PUPDATE 2

Fleur has really come along this last month. She is such a loving, excited little girl. Once she feels settled in she lets her personality shine. She is doing great with the bathroom routine and has not had an accident. She loves wrestling with her foster sister all day long, but also loves to be by her person. If you sit down she will want to be next to you. And she is so cute when she falls asleep next to you.

PUPDATE 1

During the week, Fleur wakes up with me around 6 am. We go right outside to go potty and for a quick walk to the corner. Then she gets breakfast. Fleur will follow me around as I am getting dressed. She gets kenneled while I am at work in the morning. At lunch I come home and take Fleur out for another quick walk and potty break. Fleur will play with toys or nap while I do my afternoon work from home. In the afternoon we play, go on walks, and cuddle til dinner at 6 pm. We spend the evening cuddling on the couch until it’s bed time.

Fleur is timid in most new situations. She is not in a rush to greet new people when she sees them, but she is not aggressive either. It just takes a little time for her to go say hi to a new person. At home she will sometimes bark when she hears people in the hallway, but not for long. She has not met children since I’ve been fostering her.

Fleur lives with her foster sister Apple (a Chi/terrier mix) and they get along well. However, Fleur is easily intimidated by things. When I first brought her home she was very timid around all the new things, and it took some time for her to warm up to her new home. She still gets nervous and scared at loud noises, storms, or when she first sees big dogs. I have not seen her interact with cats.

Fleur also loves to cuddle with her owner. If you sit down she will want to sit right next to you, or sometimes right on you. This can be sweet, but also sometimes annoying when she constantly tries to jump or climb on you. We are working on the off command to help with this. I think Fleur would benefit greatly from a beginner dog training class for this, as well as other training habits.

Fleur is a medium energy dog. She loves to go on walks and sniff around outside. She is most energetic in the morning when you first take her out of her kennel. She will run around doing zoomies till I can calm her enough to put on her leash.

Fleur is kenneled when I have to leave the apartment. She will whine for a few minutes when you put her in, but will quickly settle in for a nap.

Fleur has been doing well with potty training. She has not had any accidents in my apartment, but she is still a puppy in a lot of ways. I keep her on a 4-hour potty break schedule and she had been doing great with that.

At her last visit, the vet said Fleur had a skin infection or pyoderma. This is a result of an overgrowth of skin bacteria which can make her skin itchy or cause her to lick more. She is on a treatment of medicated wipes for her skin and also given a special shampoo to use when she is given baths. The vet is not concerned about this skin issue unless there are continuous flare-ups.

Fleur is a such a sweetie pie, but gets intimidated easily. It takes time for her to warm up to new surroundings. I would love to find her a home where she will have lots of love and the patience to help her develop her confidence.
