Meet Falafel, a.k.a. Fala, a.k.a. Falalalalala! This floofy little polar bear just arrived in Wisconsin by way of Texas and has wasted no time in taking advantage of the last bits of winter’s snow and ice. Falafel’s favorite activities are laying on ice, chewing on ice, digging at snow and ice, and playing on ice! When she’s not spending as much time a possible outside, Falafel has excellent household manners: She is crate trained, never had an accident indoors, and generally just likes to be where her people are.
Falafel is currently living in a multi-dog foster home and loves playing with other dogs. She has been very polite with every dog she has met; she will often try to engage the other dogs in play and is quickly learning to read their signals if they’re not interested in her bouncy puppiness. When she’s not playing with other dogs or crunching on ice, Falafel can most often be found with a pile of toys to entertain herself with.
In typical Great Pyr fashion, Falafel is rather stubborn when she doesn’t want to do something. Outdoors especially, she prefers to change her name to Falalalala and enjoys a sing-song serenade if you need her attention. This trait transfers over to walks as well, and when she’s decided she’s walked far enough, she’ll sprawl on the ground. She will need an owner who’s just a little more opinionated than she is to continue helping her learn there is an appropriate time and place for her breed characteristics to shine.
Falafel loves her crate and will hang out in there if home alone as well as overnight. She keeps her crate very clean, has not chewed up any blankets that have been in there with her, and prefers to have a few toys in there to entertain herself. She is also very quiet in general, and the only times she’s been vocal have been when playing chase with other dogs. Currently, a few play sessions each day fulfills her energy needs as she’s fairly low-energy, especially for a puppy!
