Evelin was rescued from the flood zones of Texas and may have spent much of her life outside. However, she has recently decided that living indoors is not so bad. Evelin has followed the example of our spoiled resident dog and now very much prefers to nap on the couch.
Evelin is a curious gal and often will carefully look around before making a move. Indoors, she’ll hang out in the corner before choosing where to nap, gaze out the window, or watch you closely. She isn’t trusted to roam free indoors yet, though, since she will often sneakily, gently pull papers off a table for a nibble. Outdoors, she may want to look around for a little bit before walking comfortably at your side. Evelin recently went on a camping adventure and did great! She was relaxed and napped or watched out the window on the 5-hour drive (each way) to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Evelin was also easy to take on hikes and happy to watch sunsets or the waves roll in.
One thing to note is that Evelin is wary (but never aggressive) around new people. She’ll be skittish with newcomers but will warm up with patience, taking treats out of a visitor’s hand in less than an hour. Potential adopters with >1 person in the home may benefit from a plan to introduce her gradually one-at-a-time to other household members. You’ll be greatly rewarded, though, from spending the time to make her feel at home – when provided with a safe haven, she can be a goofy, carefree doggo who enjoys cuddling up next to you.
