Elysee found her forever home September 22, 2021!

PUPDATE 2

Elysee has continued to show her smart and curious nature. She has picked up on training quickly and already knows sit and down. She is very food motivated and will do just about anything for food. She does know she has to sit nicely for her food bowl to be set down.

She is doing better in the crate. We have started giving her high value treats to work on (frozen, filled Kongs, longer lasting chews, etc.) and those seem to keep her occupied. She will still fuss sometimes, especially noted when people are moving around the house while she is in the crate.

She also really loves the water. We walked her on a path past a pond and she was eyeing it up big time. She had a creek at her Louisiana foster's home and they noted how much she loved to swim and play in the water.

We recently took a second foster puppy and she is having so much fun with a playmate that likes to play as much as she does. She is a very social pup with both people and other dogs and would do great in most settings.

PUPDATE 1

Meet Elysee! She is a playful, curious and cuddly pup, that will be a great addition to just about any family.

Elysee is a very typical, 3.5 month old puppy. She loves to play and explore outside and try to make friends with every human/dog/kitty that she meets. She is sweet, affectionate and very interested in engaging with her people.

She spends her days practicing crate training, playing in the yard with her foster siblings and emptying out the toy box. She loves meal times and earning her meals with the snuffle mat and puzzle toys. She plays hard and crashes hard after playtime. After a busy day of playing, she loves to snuggle near the humans and other pups as the evening winds down.

Elysee is still working on potty training but is doing ok if you keep her on a schedule. She had a UTI when she first arrived but has been on an antibiotic for a few days and that seems to be clearing up which is helping with her potty training. She goes outside right away after being let out of the crate, naps or bouts of heavy playtime. She does still have accidents though so she will need to be watched closely. She is used to being crated throughout the day with several breaks. She is usually crated for a couple hours at a time and then gets a 20-30 minute break to get her wiggles out. Right now she is crated in the same room as me while I work. We are working on her being comfortable in the crate and increasing the distance away from me. Overnight, she is crated across the bedroom from me. She settles in very quickly at bedtime. She does hold her potty pretty well overnight but occasionally will still need a break.

Elysee is a pretty friendly pup and is interested in checking new people out pretty much right away. She doesn't have kids in her foster home but she has had a playdate with three, dog savvy kiddos (ages 3-9) and loved it. She wasn't concerned about them running around or being loud in the yard and loved running and playing with them. She does jump up when excited and is a little mouthy so she will need close supervision with kids until she learns those boundaries.

She has had a variety of other pups in her foster home. She was so excited to meet all of them and pulled out all of her tricks to make friends (running up with play poses, laying on the ground belly up next to them, etc). She gets excited every time she has met another dog but she can be a little in the face and needs some help remembering to give them some space. Overall she is pretty submissive with the older pups and she does take correction from them pretty well. She would do great either with or without another doggo in her forever home.

Elysee does have kitties in her foster home. She is interested in the kitties and tries to play/chase with the cat. Based on my observations, I think she could live with a cat but would need supervised interaction and some correction from both felines and humans so she can learn those boundaries.

Elysee gets most of her energy out playing outside in the yard with the other pups. She loves wrestling and playing chase. She is a medium energy gal that likes long naps after play time. She does ok on leash but walks like a typical puppy so will need some practice. She gets distracted easily and likes to people watch so she needs some encouragement to keep walking. She does well in the car (crated) and settles in fairly quickly for the ride.

Elysee hasn't been left alone too often but when we do leave, she needs to be crated as she is still very much a puppy. She will chew on cords, shoes, scraps on the floor, etc. so will need to be closely monitored. She does bark a bit in the crate initially but has been quiet when I get home so does settle in eventually. This should be a consideration if you live in an environment with shared walls.

We have loved having this sweet, affectionate pup with us and know she will charm her forever family quickly!
