Ella is such a sweetheart and enjoys attention from people of all ages.  She loves nothing more than sitting by you, getting some TLC. She has been regularly exposed to kids ages 5-12 and loves them. She is a fairly chill girl, who doesn’t need much  exercise.  Ella’s old injuries from her life as a stray do cause her to have a bit of a stiff leg when she gets up in the morning or after running around a lot.  Ella was adopted for a month and returned to Fetch after a fight with the other resident dog in the home. There had been no red flags up until then and it occurred at night and seemed possible related to her trauma from when she was  a stray and trying to protect her puppies from predators.  During her time in our house and her 9 months in her Texas foster’s house she has lived with other dogs and never showed an indication of aggression. But, since she instigated a fight, we are recommending Ella is an only dog home, so that she doesn’t have her trauma resurface again.  That being said, she has enjoyed playing with other dogs, especially off leash in our backyard. She has recently started barking more at other dogs we pass on leash (she walks with our resident dog just fine), but is easy to redirect. It would be good to continue to work on her leash manners to keep her successful on the neighborhood walks. We do use a gentle leader head halter, as she will pull when seeing a critter.

Ella has so much love to give and would love a home and family of her own.  She is a special girl.

Ella’s story:

Ella has seen some hard times in her life - dumped in a large rural wooded area. She had litter after litter, while trying to feed herself.

She was seen in August, 2022, with 1 black puppy and herself skin and bones. That night, 2 young women went to the woods, stayed into the early hours of morning calling her. About to give up, they were walking down a trail and one felt a touch on her hand. Ella had come to them. They petted and fed her and she led them back to her baby. That morning she was taken to the vet, and into rescue.

Has been in foster for about nine months: She only weighed about 40 lbs. and her back leg had been bitten down to the bone. By November, she was 57 lbs and able to be spayed. She was HW positive and completed HW treatment the first of April.

The vet highly recommends dental due to tartar build-up. Dental will be done - if not in foster care, Fetch will work with the adopters to schedule/cover this.
