Adopted on Friday, April 23!
After a nice long sleep in my kennel, I wake up about 5:30 am with my foster family (closer to 6 am on weekends) and I race outside to go potty, because I know better then to go in my kennel. Then eat and play with the other dogs in the house before I go outside again at 6 am. At 6:30 am, I go into my kennel and I know I have a long day ahead of me. I usually sleep until Mom comes home at 4 pm and I go potty and eat. After a good run, we go home and play some more, until bedtime around 10 pm. I go outside several times between then, but I really make sure to go out right at 10 pm, or I whine early in The morning because I have to go potty. Then I sleep through the night and am ready for another great day!
I love people, but I am pretty nervous at first. It takes me a little while to come out of my shell, and I am very quiet and prefer to hide or stay in my kennel in new situations. In my house right now, it took me about a week to stop hiding in the kennel or the bathroom. Now I do zoomies everywhere! When I meet new people on the street and they try to pet me, I am getting better about not falling over and curling my tail under me. I am still learning that people can be good and kind.
I love little kids, but I do get really excited because I am a puppy. I need someone that will train me to stay down with them. Once I get over my excitement, I am a really calm girl that loves to give kisses and be pet.
I need to run at least once a day. I do okay with walks, but I just really want to go. Once I get out my energy, I am fine, and I am learning to heel and not pull.
I love other dogs! I do bark at others that pass my house to come play with me, but I have learned “leave it” and “come” and I listen right away.
If a cat runs, I will chase it trying to play, but I am not vicious. I do tug at their ears sometimes, but I back off when the cat gives me warnings. I have learned that some kitties do not like dogs, and I leave the ones that spit at me alone.
I must be in a kennel when alone, and baby gates do not cut it, no matter how high. My kennel makes me feel safe and I like it in there with my blankets and a couple toys plus I don’t go potty in there and it keeps me from hoarding various items that could make me sick.
I don’t have many accidents in the house if you get me out when I tell you I need to go, but I am very subtle about it. I either just stand by the door for a few moments or whine very quietly to let you know that I have to go outside. If you miss my cues, then I start to sniff and will go potty on the floor.
