Chester

Mixed Breed | 2 Years | MALe | 50 lbs

QUICK FACTS: ✔️ Good with other dogs! ✔️ Good with kids! ✔️ Potty trained! ✔️ Can free roam when alone! ✔️ Walks well on leash!

Chester is as sweet as he is handsome! He starts his day with snuggles and a walk before he free roams while I go to work. In the evening, he takes another walk and relaxes with TV and pets. He alternates between my bed and the floor during the night.

Chester is medium-energy and equally enjoys walks and naps. He walks nicely on a leash but can pull when he sees a critter. He rides well in the car and is always up for an adventure. On rainy days, he is content with snuggles and a chew.

He is friendly with other dogs and co-exists nicely with my dominant dog. He would do well with a calmer sibling or would especially love the attention of being an only dog. On walks, he always wants to politely greet every dog. Chester is still learning how to play with other dogs and toys but becoming more confident. Cats are unknown.

Chester is friendly with all people including children and seeks out pets from strangers. If he is really excited, he may try to jump up, but he knows ‘sit’ and has an overall gentle demeanor. He can be demanding when he wants pets.

Due to recent major life changes, Chester has some understandable anxiety. He is sensitive and afraid of getting in trouble, so he will need a family who uses only positive reinforcement with him.
He also displays signs of separation anxiety and cries or howls (not barks) when I leave. He is improving every day; on day 1 he cried all day and now a week later, he only whines for ~15 minutes. New adopters should expect a transition period of vocalization until Chester learns his family will come back. He does not want or need to be crated. Chester is quiet when I am home and doesn’t bark at apartment noises or people.

Chester is such a special boy who will bring so much love and joy to his adopters! Everyone who meets him comments on how friendly and sweet he is.
