Buttercup is a beautiful and athletic Siberian Husky (we think 100% but cannot confirm without DNA test). She currently lives with a family of 5 humans (ages 8 and up) and 1 dog, and 1 cat, and gets along with all of them very well. Her daily routine includes an early morning wakeup, breakfast, lots of time outdoors in the yard. She enjoys chasing tennis balls and dog frisbees. After a few hours she happily naps in her kennel while the humans are busy, but she gets out again around lunchtime to roam around and play. In the evening she has dinner and enjoys some time indoors when the whole family is home, and will happily nap on the dog bed when she tires out.
Buttercup sleeps in her kennel at night, and does great: no howling or complaining. She does like to have a bone or chew toy.
Despite the husky reputation for being 'talkative', Buttercup only howls when she wants to play or she’s hungry. Otherwise she is quiet in the kennel, and quiet when strangers, delivery persons, come up the house. Our fence borders a common dog-walking trail and our resident dog goes nuts when people walk by. Buttercup does not bark or howl, she’s the perfect neighbor!
Buttercup is docile and submissive. She cuddles up with our kids on the dog bed, and has even allowed my 8 year old to perform a 'vet work-up' with her toy 'vet kit'. She walks very well on a leash, and she very much enjoys outings via foot or via car. She has been to a crowded block party and met humans and dogs of all sizes, and she did really well!
Buttercup loves having another dog around to take cues from, but I think she would also adapt well to being in an ‘only dog’ household.
