Playtime with my foster brother!

Updates

Hello! I’m Buster, a two-years young southern gentleman from Louisiana. I’m new to Wisconsin this year and love the outdoors. I’m currently having fun with my new foster brother, who is showing me the ropes (literally). The staff at doggy daycare have given me excellent report cards due to my bonding with other dogs and listening to commands. Right now, my current foster family is working with me on routine consistency and reinforcing the rules of the house.

My Strengths: My fosters tell me that I am loyal, sweet, affectionate, pack driven, smart and quick at learning. I’ve been working on leash manners and do well walking with use of a prong collar. I even let my foster mom and dad sleep in on the weekends! I know a handful of common commands like sit, come, stay and lay down.  I love to play by wrestling with my foster brother and playing catch with the ball (yes, I said catch). With my great sense of smell and intelligence, I have the potential to become a hunter or tracker with the correct training.

I am actively working on barrier reactivity around fences and windows. Continued training and a stable home environment will allow me to become more secure and calm as I continue to age like a fine wine.

Buster’s Needs from his Foster parents’ perspectives: Buster is benefitting greatly from structure and consistency. His ideal owner would be somebody who is calm with a dominant demeanor, and is able to reinforce rules. We notice that he is improving on barrier reactivity (e.g., barking at strangers outside of windows and fences).  Buster loves being around other dogs and would likely do well with another dog in the home. We’ve observed him do very well meeting new dogs that come to our home and in public. Buster does benefit from clear instructions on how to behave when outside of the home, which reduces his anxiety. Home consistency and training have helped him to relax and be himself. Buster is a very loving dog whose existence will reward any owner he looks up to!
