Buoy is happy to note his adoption on September 29, 2020!
After sleeping through the night in his crate, Buoy wakes up with everyone else around 7 am. He goes outside to go potty and eats breakfast. He will play with his foster brother in the backyard and then once the workday starts for mom, he curls up in his dog bed and relaxes. He plays again and loves spending time in the fenced in backyard. At night he is ready to snuggle up on the couch and watch neflix before bedtime at 9:30 pm.
Buoy is a loving, shy, friendly boy who after a little bit of time, warms up and is the best companion you could ask for.
He lives with a 17 month old right now. He is very interested in her, but listens well when we say to "leave her". Buoy is a typical puppy and will need to be monitored around younger children for nipping and jumping. He has never once been aggressive to her and loves her!
Buoy is tough to get on a leash as he usually runs away because he doesn't know what he is doing. Once you get him on a leash and towards the door, he will usually try to get out of his collar, which is why a harness would be a good idea for him. After seeing we are going for a walk, he is happy to join and walks well. It's just the initial getting out of the house that needs some work.
He has not been exposed to cats but currently lives with an older dog named Russell. Buoy is very submissive to other dogs. Russell, his grumpy older foster brother, tends to dislike new dogs in his house and takes a while to warm up to them. Buoy did great at respecting his space in the first couple days. Once Russell got to know Buoy and realized he was here to stay and a sweet boy, he started to enjoy playing. Now they are either playing together or both curled up relaxing in their dog beds. Buoy LOVES his older foster brother and learns a lot from him. Buoy would do great with another dog to learn from and gain confidence from.
Buoy gets crated when we leave the house. When he first had to do this he was very nervous and we would have to pick him up and put him in the crate, but after a week of learning he gets treats after being in the crate, he will go in with a little bit of prodding on his own. He does great when left alone and doesn't bark or whine.
He was very skittish and shy when he first came to stay with us. Buoy can still be that way when he is unfamiliar with the surroundings, but he is so sweet and over time with the right family his confidence will grow. Whoever adopts Buoy is a very lucky person because he is a sweet, cuddly boy who just wants a human to love him!
