Adopted June 9!

Brownie sleeps quietly in her crate until her foster family gets up. Her day is a mix of time in her crate, playing with her foster dog siblings, and walking or running with her foster parents. She's a high-energy gal, so varied activities are essential for her quick mind. She was dropped at a southern shelter with her single puppy before making her way up to Wisconsin. Despite being a young mother, Brownie still has many puppy tendencies of her own and is looking for her chance to live her new life with her furever family!

She hasn't met a person she hasn't immediately decided was her new best friend. "Stranger danger" is not in Brownie's vocabulary. She has done well with kids 12+. She hasn't lived with young kids, but I'd advise no super young kids just because Brownie is a high energy, bouncy pup who doesn't understand her size and that kids are smaller than adults. She has been very gentle with everyone she's met.

Brownie is a very active girl, but if you meet her mental and physical daily needs, she's an expert snuggle pup come evening time. She earns her meals from puzzle toys, plays with her canine foster siblings a few hours each day, and walks and/or runs a few miles each day. When hiking, Brownie gets a little over-excited by all the new sights and smells, so she does walk on a prong collar currently to correct her pulling.

Brownie lives with a small pack of equally high-energy dogs who all range from 45-65 lbs. She loves playing with each of them! She is very submissive when playing. She has also met young puppies and played very respectfully with them, though they can be a bit overwhelmed by her energy.

She should not live with cats as she has a bit of a prey drive and prefers to chase them.

When Brownie is home alone, she hangs out in her crate. She runs right in when you tell her "kennel" and has no indicators of any separation anxiety. Brownie does have tendencies to bark when she feels left out or is not receiving as much attention as she thinks she should have, so we do use a bark collar with her as needed. I wouldn't be concerned with her living in an apartment but would recommend being open to using a bark collar with her if there are barky neighbor pups as she may be inclined to join in their conversations.

Brownie was treated for anaplasma with a round of antibiotics. The vet noted some mild tartar accumulation. She may need a dental in the next few years. In the meantime you can feed her dental treats to prevent new tartar accumulation.

Brownie is a huge fan of water! Drinking it, playing in it, biting the stream of water from the hose. She's also the easiest dog in the world to bathe - she just stands in the tub while you wash and dry her! She has the most adorable crimpy ears and softest fur ever - and loves being pet. She does have longer fur, but she sheds very minimally. She also has a very "wash and wear" sort of coat.
