Updates

Say hello to sweet little Brock! This tiny peanut was very shy when he first came to WI and has quickly blossomed into a spunky and fun kid. Brock loves to go for a couple short walks a day and is food motivated - he loves a tasty snack! Anyone looking for a snuggly companion for the holidays will absolutely adore Brock.

Brock has liked people of all types that he has met though he is consistently pretty shy. He may growl a little if he's overwhelmed or scared but has not been aggressive at all. Brock even came into the office with me one day and did very well when new people came to my office door one at a time going up to each of them to get pets. Occasionally Brock will bark or howl when people walk by the house or come inside but not always.

I have not seen Brock interact much with children myself. He did stay with a pet sitter over the weekend who has a toddler though and did well with the toddler in their home. He is generally skittish so just needs help with teaching little humans to give him space if he's uncomfortable.

Brock is generally quite low energy. He is very happy to go on walks and will get spurts of playful energy but is mostly happy to just snuggle most of the day.

Brock has done very well meeting other dogs on leash as well as in the home. He hasn't seemed to want to play with other dogs much yet but he is very passive and coexists with them extremely well. He was a bit overwhelmed by my rambunctious dogs at first but I just made sure he had space to feel comfortable.

Brock currently lives with my two cats and has not paid any attention to them yet.

Brock will often cry for a couple minutes when you first put him in a crate but then settles in. I have been keeping him crated with all his fluffy blankets at bed time with some Christmas music playing. Then I let him free-roam in the bathroom during the day when I go in to work. He loves to be right next to his humans at all times and would cry at first if he couldn't be near me though this has improved quickly.

Though he has not shown any symptoms, Brock did test positive for Lyme and Anaplasma (both tick-borne diseases) at his most recent vet visit. He currently going through a 3-week course of antibiotics to ensure he doesn't end up developing symptoms for either of these things.
