This little lady found her family on September 24, 2020!
Blue sleeps in her crate and gets let out around 6 am. We go on a roughly 20-minute walk and then she eats breakfast. I'm currently working from home, so she spends most of the day napping with the resident dogs on my bed while I work. In the morning and afternoon, she and one of the resident dogs usually have a wrestling session, followed by more naps. We go on another roughly 20-minute walk in the evening followed by dinner. She plays a little more with one of the resident dogs and then lounges on the floor or couch until about 10 pm when she goes to bed.
This girl loooooves people. She is curious about everyone we see on walks and cautiously greets new humans. As soon as someone pets her, she's ready to cuddle up next to them. Blue's previous foster down south said she was good with older kids. I was able to introduce her to an 8-month-old baby and she did very well. She gave him some kisses and was very gentle. She didn't even mind when he became extra interested in her tail.
Blue is a pretty chill girl. She really enjoys going on walks but doesn't need very long ones (though I think she'd be happy to go on longer ones if her people did). In the house, she does play with one of the resident dogs now and then but for the most part she seems pretty happy to be near her people and nap or get pets. Outside Blue doesn't seem very interested in playing with humans, though she will play with other dogs.
Blue is very good on walks. The only time she pulls is when she sees a squirrel and even then, she responds well to correction. She does weave a bit, so Blue would need some training if her family wanted her to walk nicely by their side.
She currently lives with two medium-sized foster dogs and does very well. Her foster brother loves other dogs and they cuddle and play frequently. Her foster sister is more dog tolerant; for the most part she and Blue ignore each other. There have been a few instances where the resident grump has given signals for Blue to back off. Blue usually gets the hint. A few times she's responded by barking but has not been aggressive and is easily redirected.
Blue has not been tested with cats. Fetch can cat test if needed.
If I’m gone for longer periods of time, Blue stays in her crate. I give her a peanut butter Kong treat toy and she does very well. She does sometimes need to be coaxed into the crate but treats of the Kong help. At night, she sometimes makes some noise soon after going in her kennel and she quiets down quickly, especially if corrected. In the morning, she starts to make some noise if she feels like she's been kept away from her humans too long. The only time I've heard her bark is when playing.
I have caught Blue chewing on fabrics (clothes, blankets) so I haven't let her free roam too long unobserved. She does currently free roam while I'm getting ready in the morning and has done well, so I think she could free roam eventually with a little guidance.
Blue loves being pet and loved on more than anything else. She has beautiful light blue eyes that she'll look up at you with when you're petting her head. She even has a little smile when she gets really good scratches behind her ears. If invited, she loves sitting on my lap and falling asleep.
She follows me around in the house and likes to know where I am at all times. I think when she has a consistent home situation, she will become more confident and will be more comfortable when her people leave the room because she'll know that they'll come back.
Blue is a little timid, mostly with quick or big movements towards her. She is very trusting of people though, so she recovers quickly if I squat down and give her pets.
She has been a fantastic dog to foster and I think Blue will be an excellent addition to someone's family! She is fully potty trained and doesn't require much exercise or maintenance. She would be the perfect fit for someone or a family that wants a very loving and cuddly dog.
