Updates

BJ went home to his forever family on October 17, 2020!

BJ usually wakes up around 7:30 am, ready to eat by 8 am. I take him for walks before and after he eats. He goes right back to sleep after a little playing. He spends his day going from belly rub to belly rub, playing with toys, and meeting new friends on walks. He loves to snack on peanut butter and cream cheese during the day. BJ eats dinner around 6 pm, going for walks before and after. He gets a burst of energy, and then gets tired for the night. Very easy to manage for a beginner dog owner or someone with a busy family.

He loves making new friends and adores the friends he has. BJ runs up to strangers and I can tell he is happy because his tail is always wagging behind him. He loves to be near me all the time and follows me whenever I leave the room. He does that with anyone he loves. Great with all humans!

BJ is a medium energy puppy. He needs to go for frequent short walks or be given an opportunity to run around outside without a leash. He gets bursts of playful energy in between naps. He is great on a leash for short walks, especially when he knows where we are walking. He likes to lead the way.

At first, BJ can be a little timid with new dogs, but quickly realizes that he wants to play. He has had some puppy playdates that have gone great. He has not been exposed to cats.

Being that most of the classes at UW have been switched to online and a lot of amenities are closed, my roommates and I have been spending the majority of time in our apartment with BJ. That said, we do leave him alone for short periods of time while, but usually this is when he is napping. Sometimes he wakes up and whimpers for a second, but then either falls right back asleep or starts playing independently with his toys.

As a two month old puppy, BJ is still teething. When he gets the zoomies and gets super excited, he ditches his toys and loves to teethe on fingers, toes, and wrists. I have found that the best way to get him to stop is by distracting him with a toy or getting up and playing fetch with him, with his tennis ball. It’s usually a sign to us that he needs to be stimulated more and get his energy out. That said, these teething incidents are pretty infrequent throughout the day, as he spends most of his time napping, cuddling with me and my roommates, on frequent short walks, or playing nicely with his toys. I think if he had a backyard to run around in without a leash on, he would be able to get even more energy out, and be teething on humans even less frequently.

BJ is the most handsome boy ever. He has the cutest wrinkles on his face and the softest golden/white coat. His floppy ears make my heart warm. His favorite is being rubbed under his neck with all of his extra skin. A puppy as incredible as BJ deserves the most amazing home and furever family.
