Meet Bella, the sweetest Great Pyrenees I have ever met! But, as sweet as she is, Bella is slow to warm up to new people and is very cautious of strangers. She is hand shy and will cower in fear and lie on the ground if people she doesn’t know try to touch her. If she can run from you, she will. However, once Bella trusts you, she will always want to be by your side and is the biggest cuddle bug ever. She is currently doing well in her foster home that is quiet, and low energy. She does not live with children or cats so it is unknown whether she would do well with them or not. She has a history of not doing well with small dogs, but I believe with very slow intros, she can do well. She currently lives with adults and an older teen who is very dog-savvy and the resident dog, who is a large male Great Pyrenees. Again, we did very slow introductions with my dog to make sure she integrated well.

Once Bella trusts you, her true personality begins to shine and she is a gem! Bella is the Pyr-fect mix of independent and velcro dog. She loves to be pet, held, and given belly rubs. She is a master of Pyr Paw, wiggle butt, and helicopter tail. Bella has impeccable house manners and can be trusted to roam free in your home when you are out. Her favorite spots to be inside is cuddled up next to you on the couch or in your bed. She doesn’t seem to like sharing the bed at night-time though, so once her people go to bed, she finds a different spot to sleep for the night. Another great trait of Bella’s is that she matches her family’s energy. If you want to go for a walk, she is ready to go; if you want to stay inside and watch TV all day, she’s fine with that, too! Bella’s perfect home would be with a person or family that understands that she needs patience and time to build up confidence.
