Bayou found his family June 26, 2021!

Meet Bayou! This striking, southern pup is ready to be scooped up and adored by his forever family. He is a playful, hilarious and affectionate pup, who will be a great addition to just about any family.

Bayou is a very typical, almost 4 month old puppy. He loves to play and explore outside, empty out the toy box, wrestle with his foster siblings and try to make friends with the kitty.

He spends his days practicing crate training, playing in the yard with his foster siblings and playing with all the toys. For a southern pup, Bayou does not love the heat so you will most often find him in a shady spot or waiting to go back inside if he finds it too warm out. Otherwise, he will spend all day in the yard, snacking on mulch and grass, sniffing around for critters and rolling in the grass.. After a long day, he loves to snuggle near the humans and other pups as the evening winds down.

Bayou has done pretty well with potty training if you keep him on a schedule. He goes outside right away after being let out of the crate, naps or bouts of heavy playtime. He does still have accidents though so he will need to be watched closely. During the day, he is usually crated for a couple hours at a time and then gets a break to get his wiggles out. When crated during the day, he will take a bit to settle in but then is quiet for a few hours. He will start to whine if he needs to potty and will have an accident in his crate if you don't get him out soon enough. He is currently being treated for a UTI so this will likely improve once his treatment is complete. Overnight he is crated across the bedroom from me and settles in very quickly. He does hold potty pretty well overnight for roughly six hours.

Bayou is such a love and readily approaches new people for pets and love. He doesn't have kids in his foster home but he has met a few on walks and was eager to approach them. He is still busy growing teeth and can be mouthy when excited so I would suggest supervision with really young kids until he learns those boundaries.

He currently has three other pups in his foster home; two adult dogs and another puppy just a bit older. He gets excited for time with the adult pups but he can be a little in the face and needs some help remembering to give them some space. He plays mostly with the other puppy and he loves to run/play/wrestle with her. He has met several other dogs on leash and done well. He would do great with another doggo in his forever home.

Bayou does have a kitty in his foster home. He is interested in the kitty and tries to play with the cat. If the cat runs, he will chase her. Based on my observations, I think he could live with a cat but would need supervised interaction and some correction from both felines and humans so he can learn those boundaries.

Bayou gets most of his energy out playing with the other pups in his foster home. He loves wrestling and playing chase. He is a medium energy dude that likes long naps after play time. He does pretty well on leash but in busier/new areas can be more distracted. He does well in the car (crated) and settles in fairly quickly for the ride.

When we leave, Bayou needs to be crated as he is still very much a puppy. He will chew on cords, shoes, scraps on the floor, etc so will need to be closely monitored. He settles in fairly quickly but will whine and have pee accidents in the crate if left for more than a couple of hours.

We have loved having this sweet, affectionate boy with us and know he will bring so much love to his forever family.
