Updates

Bass wakes up before we do, but stays quietly in this crate until about 6:30am. He goes outside to potty, then it’s inside for a training breakfast! Bass loves to learn new things and much of his training happens at mealtimes. After breakfast, sometimes we'll snuggle in bed or on the couch. Then, we do another potty break and romp/play fetch in the yard before we leave for work. During the day Bass sleeps in his crate, then around lunch he’s let out for a 20 min potty break and romp in the yard. In the afternoon we have him gated in the room where his crate is located and when we return home around 5-5:30…he’s usually lounging in his crate. Once home from work, Bass races and plays in the yard, loves to play fetch and coaxes our resident dog into a game of chase. Dinner around 6pm is either more training or most recently, fun puzzle feeders. Bass normally starts getting tired before we do, and snoozes on the couch with us, then another potty before heading to the crate at 11 where he sleeps soundly through the night.

Bass is a 100% puppy who is excited about everything and everyone! We call him Mr Busybody who wants to be involved in every household event and meet all our neighbors. He loves getting treats and pets from new people. Bass has been around neighborhood children, but should be supervised around smaller ones as he tends to wiggle and jump.

Bass is a medium to high energy pup. He's the kind of puppy that runs around like crazy, then poops out. He starts our longer walks pulling hard, but after a a few min settles in. We are working on more relaxed leash walking.

Bass loves to play with other dogs. He especially enjoys chase and keep away. He doesn't wrestle much, but enjoys the chase and running. He does bark, wag his tail at other dogs while on leash and in the yard, and we are working on his toning down his excited reactions. Bass is very excited by our resident cat. He would be great with another dog, but no cats or small animals. He is very keen to chase any rabbit or squirrel.

Bass settles into his crate in the morning when we leave for work, and from what we've noted, is quiet. In the afternoon after he's let out at lunch, we leave him in a gated area with his crate, and has not had any accidents. Bass is highly food motivated and needs supervision while in the kitchen or dining room. He is well behaved in general living areas, but we monitor him closely and quickly replace any non-dog items he picks up with dog toys.

Bass tends to react to things he doesn’t know by barking, but as he’s gaining more confidence and exposure he’s less surprised by new things. For example, last week while using a drill he started barking frantically at the drill. I stopped, placed the drill down on the ground, allowed him to sniff it, then while treating him turned on the drill and after a few min I was able to continue working on the deck while he supervised me quietly from the couch. The home ideal for Bass will love and appreciate his bouncy, happy and manageable puppy nature. They should expect to continue his training to ensure good behavior, be able to continue his crate/space-limiting environment when unsupervised to keep him out of trouble, provide exercise and and understand how to develop his good manners in the big world
