Updates

Momma Bailey found her forever family on March 31, 2021!

PUPDATE 2

Bailey has really settled in. She is a joy to foster and is a fast learner!

I took her on her first pack walk last Sunday and she did great! She walked with the dogs and didn’t pay a lot of attention to them. At the end of the walk when we gathered in the parking lot Bailey met a few dogs on leash and just sniffed them. She was really good with people petting her, and otherwise just sat and watched. I was really surprised when after the pack walk Bailey just jumped in the car all by herself! I usually have to coax her in. She’s a quiet and little tense rider, but hey, progress is being made! Way to go girl!

Favorite toys:  squeaky toys, rope toys, and peanut butter Kongs! It's really fun to  watch her play.

Bath Time: She needs coaxing to get in the tub, but once in I think she really likes the bath.

First nail trim from me today. She was submissive, didn’t really like it but she let me trim and file them. A couple treats during the nail trim worked really well.

New tricks:  Are ‘sit’, and ‘in your crate’ She goes right in her crate. So cool! We have been really consistent with these. Her progress is fun to watch.

Feeding time: she sits and waits perfectly for her food.

PUPDATE 1

Bailey is such an easy pup! She is up by 7am, goes out to potty and then eats. She is free to play or lounge until I crate her for the morning. At noon, I let Bailey out to potty and explore (we have a fenced in backyard), and then she plays or lays on the couch (which she loves) for an hour or so. She's crated until we walk in the late afternoon. And she LOVES her walks! She loves our senior golden retriever and will walk with him and watch for him if he gets behind. It's really a sweet bond. The dogs are tired when we get back from our walk, so they chill (Bailey once again takes to the couch!). They eat at 5pm, then they both hang out with us the rest of the evening. Bailey's a cuddler! The couch is her haven and she'll snuggle up to a pillow or to anyone sitting by her. She loves to play (and chew) with toys and is a really easy, pretty submissive sweet pup. She knows her routine well. I think she'd make a great running buddy because she is a really high energy fun lov'in pup! We just love her.

She has not had the opportunity to meet people other than our family members.  No exposure to children.

Bailey is a high energy fun pup. She loves her daily walks. Bailey pulls on her leash when we start out, but after a few blocks walks really well.

She loves our golden retriever who is 11 years old. She also gets along really well with my daughters 3 young golden retrievers. She has not met any other dogs while in our care.

Bailey has had a little exposure to a cat when in her initial foster home where she gave birth to her pups. She was fine with the cat. Her current foster home does not have cats.

She can get in to a whining mode which can escalate fairly loud. An apartment setting might not be a good placement for her.

Bailey is crated when we are gone. When I give Bailey a deer antler to chew on, I put her in her crate so the two dogs are separated. This is my comfort zone. She has not shown any signs of toy or food aggression.

She has an ear infection that is being treated with a long lasting ointment so no daily meds need to be administered. She has a bump on the left ear that was checked and appears to be a histiocytoma which should just go away on its own.

Bailey had a litter of pups that are now 8 weeks old. She came to our home when her pups were 6 weeks old and no longer nursed. She is doing great at getting in to her own "puppy" routine. She loves people!  Bailey is a typical puppy chewer so we have puppy proofed our home. She's a smart pup and will do well with training.
