Look at this dashing dog! Azarath is an Anatolian Shephard mix (clearly with some husky based on his beautiful coat) who is just the sweetest guy who deserves a wonderful stable home after a rough start. Found in Texas, Azarath has been in shelters/foster homes since October 2024. He recently made the plane flight up to Wisconsin where he's due for a great life.
Azarath is a happy, energetic guy with a bit of puppy in him still. He's a great leash walker (and even runner - we've been on some three mile runs and he keeps pace really well). He's potty trained and smart enough to pull his leash to the floor to let you know he wants to get out there. He hasn't had any accidents since arriving.
Not only smart enough to let you know he needs to go out, but he also already knows basic commands: sit, paw, lay down are all in his repertoire. He gets in and out of the car without issue and enjoys a good ride. He even has fetch down already! Ball or Frisbee - Azarath loves to play!
Azarath has a history of difficulty with crates and being left alone though. We've given him a pass on crates for now as it is causing him too much stress (the first time we had to leave him alone for a bit, he broke though an airport crate in 20 minutes). He's currently gated off in the living room for sleeping which is going well. When left alone in the house though he is still struggling (barks, paces around, general anxiousness). He'll eventually settle down and sleep, but it takes him a while. He's on medication for this at the moment, but once he finds a forever home that has a good routine and some additional patience, time and care he should be able to be tapered off these.
With people though - Azarath is a champ. He loves everyone we run into and is already a star in my office during trips there. He very quickly settles down and sleeps letting me work without distraction.
Azarath will be a perfect match for someone who can match his high energy. He's up at 5am ready to meet the day and always up for some playtime or walking. You will be rewarded with great snuggles! Based on his difficultly being alone, Azarath will do best in a home that has lots of time to spend with him. A fenced in backyard would also be best for him as he loves to be outdoors. Given the proper time/love I'm sure he'll adjust nicely and can eventually have a crate worked back into his skill set if desired.
