Updates

Aviva found her new home on September 6, 2020! Her new name is Leela. This sweet gal loves a good camping and canoe trip :)

Aviva (aka Ava) sleeps all through the night in her crate and doesn't move until we wake up around 7 am. We wake up and go outside, where she takes a little while to find the best spot, but then goes running back inside. She eats throughout the day, so we keep the food and water out. After breakfast, we go for a short walk around the cul de sac and then she comes home and takes a nap. Over lunch we play a little fetch outside. Sometimes when it's really warm she just wants to stay outside, so we put her on the tie out while I go back inside and she stays outside and sleeps. She comes to the door when she's ready to come back in. After dinner we do another short walk, she takes a while to find the best spot, and then she usually gets a round of zoomies. We work that off with some fetch and a laser pointer! We go to bed around 10 pm and she goes to sleep pretty fast.

Ava's first instinct when meeting new people is to flop over and show her belly for belly rubs. She takes to new people very easily and will be snuggling and playing with them in no time. She's met a few children and was pretty timid with them but hasn't had long-term exposure.

She's a fairly mellow dog who gets random spurts of energy throughout the day. With regular exercise (minimal), she's usually pretty quick to go down for a nap as long as she's gone to the bathroom. She tries to lead you places on the leash, but she's not very strong and is getting better on it.

With slow introductions, she's done well with dogs and a cat. There was one instance where a large dog came towards her while she was laying down and she growled and got a little protective. Other than that, she's been timid with dogs as long as it's off her turf, and interested in cats, but not prey-driven.

She is crate trained, and she is quiet and usually falls asleep as soon as we put her in the crate.  We do not leave her out to roam.

Aviva needs some patience sometimes as she does take a little while to go to the bathroom. Thankfully she only needs to go 2-3x per day, but it does take a while. We've had no accidents in the house at this point.
