Meet Amelia! A super sweet, snuggly, spunky pup! She came to us from an amazing foster home, where she lived from birth to 8 weeks old with her mom and 10 siblings! Her ears are starting to stand up just like how her mama Seairah’s do :)
Amelia starts her day around 6:30am. She goes outside right away to go potty and then comes inside for some playtime before breakfast. She usually plays for about 1 ½ - 2 hours before taking her morning nap. When she wakes up she goes outside again, and typically plays for another hour, then sleeps for an hour throughout the day. She goes outside whenever she wakes up, and about every 30-45 minutes when she’s awake. She has been working on potty training, but still needs to be closely monitored as she doesn’t always go potty when we go outside, and doesn’t have the clearest tell of needing to go out. She is picking it up, and with continued structure we’re sure she’ll be fully potty trained in no time.
Amelia currently lives with our resident dog and cat, who are both very puppy tolerant :) It took her a few days to fully warm up to our dog, but now they are wonderful together. They wrestle a lot, steal bones from each other, snuggle, etc. Besides our resident dog, she has only met one other dog (a puppy 〜4 mo) and she was happy to say “hi” but then was scared when the other dog wanted to play. We think that as she gets older and bigger, with more socialization she will become much more confident with other dogs. She does great with our cat! Most of the time she will just ignore him, occasionally she will try and get him to play with her or start following him around the house, but is very easily redirected when we tell her to leave him alone. If she does get close to him she just tries to give kisses :)
She loves people! Amelia has been very friendly with everyone she has met, usually greeting by standing on her back legs trying to kiss them :) She is very adventurous and loves to go for walks! She has not met any kids.
Amelia loves snuggling! If we’re sitting on the ground she’ll climb right into our laps to take a nap, or chew on a bone. Bully sticks are her favorite, but she also really likes Nylabones (synthetic bones) and yak milk chews. She also enjoys plush toys (especially ones with squeakers :)), balls and rope toys. She likes playing tug-of-war and fetching toys we throw. She sometimes mistakes hands, other body parts and non chew toys for toys but is easily redirected. She gets the zoomies and loves to sprint around the house! She is overall a pretty medium energy puppy.
She has shown no signs of resource guarding. She doesn’t mind us or our pets taking toys/bones/food from her. Amelia is a pretty slow eater, and sometimes needs encouragement to eat, such as hand feeding instead of straight out of the bowl. As she doesn’t eat all of her food right away, we try to put it down for her in between her meal times. We cannot leave it down all the time though, because our pets will try to eat it :) She definitely gets her food at 7-7:30 am, 12pm, and 5pm.
Amelia is working on crate training and does not sleep through the night. She is currently waking up 3-5 times a night. She mainly wakes up and cries for companionship rather than needing to go outside. If she goes into her crate when she is already asleep, she usually stays quiet. She has not been left alone during the day and likes to be where her people are.
Overall, Amelia is a fun loving playful puppy who can’t wait to find her furever home! Is that you?
Amelia’s mom had a DNA analysis showing 50% bull terrier, 25.1% chow chow, 8.1% American foxhound, 6.0% German shepherd, 10.8% supermutt. We do not know the breed of Amelia’s dad. Take a look at the last photo above to see her Mama Seairah!
