Amaya is a sweet, medium-high energy pup looking for her forever home for the holidays!
Amaya currently lives with her foster parents and our 16 month old baby. She’s been friendly with us since day one, though she was a bit shy at first. Now that she has settled in, she loves to snuggle and be near us. She also does very well with our toddler, who likes to give the dogs hugs. Amaya came to Fetch as an owner surrender, after her former family realized she wasn’t doing well being moved from new place to new place (her former owner’s job required frequent moving). She would prefer an adoptive home that is more stable than her prior home.
Amaya also lives with our two resident dogs. We do doggy daycare in our home, so in the two weeks we have been fostering Amaya, she’s seen a lot of pups come and go. She’s gotten along great with all of them! She really enjoys playing with the other pups. Amaya has not met a cat in her foster home.
Amaya is a medium to medium-high energy pup (after all, she’s still young). She really enjoys going for walks, and would be a good activity partner for an active person or family. Today was likely the first time this southern gal saw snow in her life and it didn’t faze her one bit!
Amaya is crated at night and occasionally during the day while we are home and does very well in her crate. She goes into crate on command and sleeps in it through the night. Amaya is potty trained, but she is still young and so might get the urge to chew on things if she gets bored while not crated and unsupervised.
In addition to knowing the command “crate,” Amaya knows “sit,” “stay,” “come,” and “shake” and is learning “down.” Amaya is a smart girl who is food motivated, so she learns fast. We are working with her on boundaries, such as staying off the couch and not getting up in our faces for kisses (she’s a lover!). We have also started using a prong collar on walks to cut down on pulling and she is getting the hang of walking nicely. She is great at ignoring other dogs and people while we are out on walks. As a young pup, she would benefit from a basic obedience class.
