Updates

Adelaide wakes up with her foster mom at 5:30am and heads outside to go potty. She eats breakfast and then goes for a long walk around the neighborhood for about a half hour. After her walk, Adelaide plays with her toys (or watches foster mom) while mom gets ready for work. Around 6:45am, Adelaide goes into her crate with a fun snack (yummy chew, frozen peanut butter Kong, etc.) and hangs out until 11am when she gets let out for a potty break. She gets free roam time while foster dad is having lunch and then is back in her crate from about 12pm - 4pm when foster mom gets home from work. After work, she goes for another long walk, has dinner and works on training and tricks, cuddles with her people, and has some outside playtime in the backyard. She sleeps soundly in her crate from about 11pm - 5:30am. She would be ok snuggling in bed if her family would rather have overnight cuddles!

Adelaide loves people! She is quick to bond with new people, seeking belly rubs and giving kisses. Cuddling with her humans while they're working or relaxing is her favorite; she's a great work-from-home companion! Adelaide is very easily excited, so it will be important for her family to continue working on commands like down, off, and gentle while she grows up! Right now, she will sometimes jump to give kisses, which is sometimes cute but not great manners. Plus, she could definitely knock over or startle the little ones!

Adelaide has had limited exposure to children. When she sees the small (4 years old) neighborhood kids play, she's very alert and excited! She would likely love to join in the fun, but she would probably be too energetic for them to be safe until she learns to control her impulses when excited. For this reason, Adelaide's ideal environment is one with no kids under 12.

Adelaide is an energetic girl! She is up for any activity her people are doing. She is a great walking, running, hiking, and/or bike-riding buddy and would be a great dog for an active family. After a long walk or exercising with her foster mom, she'll be tired out and likes napping and cuddling with her people on the couch. She has mostly good leash manners, but she will pull when overstimulated by interesting sights or smells. She is very interested in rabbits, squirrels, other dogs, and the occasional plastic bag! Adelaide is redirectable, so continued leash training will be super beneficial for her.

Adelaide loves other dogs, but she's a big puppy and still learning dog communication and social cues. Sometimes she wants to play more than other dogs and will need an adopter who can continue teaching her dog manners and supervise play interactions. On walks, she is curious and will pull to see other dogs, but she is typically satisfied with a sniff and then moves on. If there is another dog in the household, slow introductions are a must to ensure they bond appropriately. Adelaide is still learning impulse control - she's still a puppy after all!

Adelaide has had no exposure to cats, but she does have a very strong prey drive with other small creatures on walks. She would likely do best in a home without smaller animals.

Adelaide needs to be crated when left alone at home. She can get nervous and have accidents or chew/scratch things that are not hers if she's left uncrated and alone. She will usually go into her crate with some coaxing with treats and will bark for a little bit before settling down. She is making great progress with her crate training, and she's learning that it's ok to be home alone - her people will always come back!

Adelaide is a sweetheart! She will be both your cuddle buddy and adventure buddy, and is looking for someone to continue teaching her puppy manners and doggie interactions.
