Adorably inseparable, Sparkle & Shine would make perfect additions to your family if you are looking for some laidback furry friends to keep you company.
Coming all the way up from Alabama, Sparkle & Shine were formerly used for breeding and lived mainly outside. Therefore, they are still learning the ins and outs of being pets and living in a home - we think they are doing great so far. That being said, they are still working on solidifying their potty training. We have them on a consistent potty schedule to help them in their training. Additionally, they can get into trouble if left unattended, so they should not be left to free roam alone. They are crated during the work day and at night and usually do fine with these longer spans of time. As beagles. they can be quite talkative so a home with shared walls is not ideal if you are not able to be home with them for most of the day. Both girls are great at walking on leash but can let their sniffer get the best of them, especially when there are other critters in the vicinity.
Both girls are super friendly towards both people and dogs, they LOVE to stop and say hello on walks. While they have not had any interactions with kids nor cats during our time with them, we think they would be fine as they have a generally calm and docile demeanor. Though they are technically "senior" pups, they still love to play. Chew/squeaky toys and balls seem to be their favorite. As best buddies, they will also keep themselves pretty entertained and play together until both are tuckered out. In fact, they are usually snoring by 8pm every night.
Overall, Sparkle & Shine are so sweet, loving, and goofy. We think they would make great companions in a patient home willing to work with them on their training as they are still adjusting to this new lifestyle. P.S. both have the cutest and funniest 'piggy' snort and snore like old men, making them even more endearing.
