Updates

Congrats to W’Kabi on his adoption November 13, 2020!

Southern dude, W'kabi is ready to find his forever family to snuggle up with as the weather gets colder. He arrived in WI from Louisiana just a week ago so he is still adjusting to these cooler temps. Snuggling in with his people is his favorite way to keep warm. He also rocks a sweater/jacket better than any other pup I have seen!

W'kabi starts his day with potty and playtime with the other dogs in our home. After breakfast he will either play some more or snuggle in with you for a bit. He is crated while I work, with a couple breaks throughout the day. He settles in quickly when crated near you but we are still working on being crated away from us and when we leave. When we leave or if he is crated away from us he will settle in after some barking/whining and hasn't had any accidents in his crate. After work hours, he gets more playtime with his foster siblings in the yard and lots of snuggles from his foster people. As he is acclimating to the colder weather he is enjoying exploring more in the yard.

W'kabi has loved meeting all the people and kids. He has met three kids (ages 2-7) and spent about an hour hanging out with them in the yard. He loved playing with them and really enjoyed snuggling up next to them to steal their body heat. He has met some other neighborhood kids in the yard and was very interested in approaching them for pets. He is so affectionate and wants to snuggle and give lots of kisses so he would be a great addition to just about any family.

W'Kabi does great with other pups. He is pretty interested in the bigger/older pups in his foster home. He is trying so hard to win the bigger pups over but is very submissive in interacting with them. He is more confident and bold with younger puppy friends and loves to play and wrestle. He has done well with sharing toys and eating near the other pups but will grumble if one of them tries to eat out of his bowl.

He does have a kitty friend in his foster home and has been curious about him. He has responded well to swats from the kitty so he would likely do well with boundary setting from the kitty and the humans.

W'kabi is a medium energy puppy. He would do great with another pup to help get his energy out or as a solo doggo with a moderately active family. He loves exploring in the yard and has discovered that playing with toys is pretty neat too. He is quiet in the crate in the car and is always up for an adventure. We are still working on leash skills. He does ok on leash but will stop if he is cold and will require coaxing to keep going.

We haven't worked too much on obedience training just yet but he has picked up on 'sit" very quickly. He is very food motivated so will be a fun pup to train. Potty training has been going well as long as we keep him on a schedule and give him lots of chances to go out.

W'kabi is still very much a puppy so we crate him when we leave the house and at bedtime. As he has settled in he has become more curious and needs to be watched more closely as he will find some things to chew on.

W'kabi has been a super fun pup to have around. He will be a good adventure dog (especially in the warmer months) but also really loves to snuggle by his people too. He will fit in with just about any family!
