Winston is a two year old Australian cattle dog/german shepherd pup who is full of love and energy. Through no fault of his own, his family has had some changes and Winston will thrive well in a new situation.
Winston wakes up at 6:30.
With his mom and “boys” (he has 10 and 7 year old human brothers). He currently uses a tie out to go potty and run off some energy then rides with mom during school drop off. Winston spends most of his day with mom snoozing. He is house trained and crate trained but only uses the crate while we are gone. He sleeps in a bed at the door of our bed at night.
Winston tends to be nervous around other animals and strangers. Given time and patience he is usually fine. He can also be jumpy especially when woken up. He will probably do best with a home with a large fenced in yard to run in and older kiddos who better understand personal boundaries.
Fun facts about Winston: he definitely lives up to his cattle dog roots…he will often “herd” his people into one room with a soft mouth on your hand to guide you around the house.
He knows basic commands but given the opportunity he will go on a neighborhood run.
He does not like the vet or grooming
His last nail trim required a muzzle, two vet techs, sedatives at home and then they had to fully sedate him to finish the work.
Winston is a very loving and loyal family dog. We believe he would be happier in a home that is not so busy and he could have a small family or singular person.
He is up to date on all vaccines and flea/tick protection.
