Hi, it’s me, Virgil! I’m, sweet, social guy and am full, I mean full, of energy and love! I came up from Louisiana to escape the wildfires that closed my shelter. I was a bit cautious at first, it took me a week to get used to the feeding schedule here and the parental units thought I was a picky eater. Not no more – I happily munch down 3 meals a day. I’m not scared of much (beeping car lock noises excepted) and I love exploring this new world and meeting the neighbors.
My foster mom says I haven’t met a stranger. I’m outgoing and exuberant with people and dogs, but can be a bit pushy with both. Have I mentioned all the energy I have? If you like running I’m there for it! I’m also wicked smart and have already learned a few basic commands. My recall is pretty darn good, I’m told. My foster parents are now teaching me to shake with both hands!! I’m house trained and mostly crate trained – I protest for a minute or two then settle down. I do hang out in the crate voluntarily. Foster mom also says I have a good “off” switch after I’ve had a good walk/run/play date.
Foster mom here: Virgil’s adopters should be prepared to work on his training. He loves to learn new things and this gives him a needed mental outlet. He will also need regular exercise as he is a young cattle dog/hound(?) mix. He loves to work the room and setting boundaries so he knows what is and is not appropriate behavior is necessary. He would love an adventure buddy for hikes, runs, and outdoor adventures. He plays well with other dogs but does not need a dog pal in the home. Virgil is a very good boy. He cannot wait to meet you.
