Teddy and Mousse are an adorable duo and bonded pair. Both are Miniature Schnauzers and came from the same breeder, which is why they look so similar. Teddy is 5 years old and Mousse is 3 years old. Teddy and Mousse were loved very much by their previous family, but are looking for a new home because their new human sibling is very allergic to dogs.
Teddy and Mousse love each other, but are a little more hesitant about new dogs. Both get over excited and like to yap and jump at new dogs, especially ones that are bigger than them, but with slow introductions, they have done great with their foster siblings and happily coexist. They will try to play with dogs of all sizes once they are comfortable and would be happy in a home as the only pets or with other dog siblings.
Teddy and Mousse are currently living with multiple cats and do well with them. Now that they are a little more settled in their foster home, they do like to push their luck with the cats and will play bow and chase the cats if given the chance. Once they catch up with the cats, they are gentle and respond well to being swatted at by the cats. Our cats learned quickly that if they don't run, Teddy and Mousse have no interest in them and leave them alone.
Teddy and Mousse have previously lived with multiple tiny humans and love kids. In their foster home, Teddy and Mousse have spent a lot of time with their foster’s niece and are gentle, kind, and love taking naps with the small kiddo. They are also good with all of the adult humans they have met, though they do like to bark when they first meet someone new. They are looking for a human who wouldn’t mind if they steal some space in the bed or on your lap. Mousse will be your shadow and likes to be near her humans all the time. Teddy is a bit more adventurous and will prioritize finding the comfiest napping place over proximity to his humans, but he does love a good snuggle as well.
Both pups are generally quiet when the house is calm, but they do like to bark when they hear a noise they don’t know or when someone walks by the house or comes inside. The first couple of days in their foster home, they barked a lot, but they bark much less now that they are more settled and know their surroundings. They do stop barking after a minute or two and also respond well and stop barking when they hear the word “no”.
This duo are great listeners and both respond to their names, come when called, will stop what they are doing when you say “no”, and will even drop a tasty treat if you ask them to. Teddy is more food motivated than Mousse, but both enjoy a good treat and don’t mind sharing with each other.
Teddy and Mousse both sleep in their crates at night, and when their foster parents are away from home. They would also happily share your bed with you at night if you are willing. We have found that they like their crates to be right next to each other so they can see each other, but they both happily go into their crates when asked. Both consider their crates their safe space, and we will often find them snoozing in their crates with the door open when we are home.
Teddy and Mousse are potty trained. They each had just a couple of poop accidents while they got used to their new routine and their fosters learned what they need, but now that they are more settled, they are great at holding it until they go out.
Teddy does have a history of allergies and itchiness, but it has been previously managed well with allergy medications like Apoquel. Aside from the allergy medication, Teddy will require semi-regular baths with special shampoo to make sure he isn’t itchy. He is an excellent sport during bath time and both dogs do well with all grooming and baths. Teddy and Mousse are also familiar with going to a groomer on a semi-regular basis and do well there.
