Updates
Sweet Baby Ray, or Ray for short, will sleep in until his humans are ready to wake up and take him out to potty. He enjoys sleeping in the bed, but lately has been preferring to sleep in his crate. He has breakfast and then is happy to mill around while everyone gets their coffee. During the day, Ray enjoys a long walk or a run, but he is also content to entertain himself with toys. Ray gets pretty sleepy around 8:00 in the evening and loves to snuggle up close on the couch.
RayRay loves people in and outside the home. He can be a little shy with new people in the house, but warms up quickly. He is pretty gentle, but occasionally jumps up when excited. He takes treats very gently and will lean into you for some scratches. Ray does not currently live with children. He greets little neighbors happily and gently.
Ray is a medium-energy dog. He loves runs, walks, and wrestling with his foster siblings. However, he is also content to lay around the house, play with toys, and snuggle. He walks well on the leash, but he is strong and can occasionally pull strongly, especially at the start of a walk. A prong collar helps substantially. Ray is interested in other 2- and 4-legged passers by but is not overly reactive.
Ray does very well with all dogs. He loves to wrestle his foster brother who also loves to wrestle, but he is not bothersome to his foster sister who does not enjoy that activity. He greets other dogs in a friendly but not overly eager manner outside.
Ray does not currently have a cat in his foster home. He shows interest in woodland creatures, but he does not seem to have a strong prey drive.
He free roams the house when people are home. He goes in the crate when left alone. Ray does great in his crate. He could likely be left alone in the home eventually, once you have a sense of how he does in your home.
Sweet Baby Ray has a class II malocclusion (overbite). It does appear that the malocclusion has caused the adult lower canine teeth to be in a location where they contact the hard palate, which can sometimes cause a painful lesion in this region. When Ray was sedated for a tooth extraction, he was examined more closely and the vet determined there were no lesions along the hard palate. No special care is required beyond monitoring oral health at annual wellness exams.
Sweet Baby Ray is aptly named, as he is truly the sweetest boy. He is the easiest foster I have ever had. He is snuggly, loving, and easy going. He would make a great addition to your family!
