Updates
Star wakes up around 5:30/6 am most days and we immediately go outside for a potty break. He then gets breakfast and he has learned to sit before getting his food. While I get ready for work he will play with either my resident dog or some toys. When I go to work he goes into his kennel and does great! I come home and take him out to potty during my lunch break and let him play to get some energy out. He then will go back in his kennel with little to no fuss for a couple more hours until I get home around 4. We then go out for another potty break and then it is playing time until dinner. He plays hard and crashes hard. On weekends we will play as much as we can and work on new commands. He starts to get sleepy at about 8 pm. I take him out one more time before bed and then he will sleep in his crate for the rest of the night.
With people, Star can be a little shy at first, but after a minute or so he will open up to give lots of snuggles to everyone.
Star has had no exposure to children other than seeing them on the street and just watching them. Potentially going to see children later this week and will update his profile with more information.
Star is a typical puppy and has spurts of energy, but overall I would say he is a very calm boy. He pulls a little bit on the leash but with training, it will get better. I have already seen the potential for him to be a good walker. He will try to keep eye contact as much as he can with me on walks. He loves to play in the snow and will bury himself on walks (it is the cutest thing ever).
Star has done great with every dog he has met so far both in my home and on walks. He does not seem to be shy at all with other dogs and is very calm around them. He does not bark at dogs that bark at him on a walk, he will just sit there and watch them. There is another golden retriever puppy that he loves to play with on my apartment floor. He seems to be a very confident dog!
Star has had no exposure to cats.
I usually crate him when I leave and he does amazing in the crate. I got him the Snuggle Puppy Heartbeat Stuffed Toy to go inside the crate with him and it has helped tremendously with leaving him. He will barely whine. He does still need to be coerced into the kennel with treats. I have left him alone for a couple of minutes while I take my other dog out to potty quickly. He seems to do fine with that especially if he is tired. He has tried to chew some non-toys, but can be easily redirected.
Star would be a great addition to any family! His calm demeanor makes him a great dog to take out and about. He has silly little quirks that will make you fall in love with him immediately.
