Sophie found her furever mom on September 3, 2020!
Sophie is a sweet, cuddly low energy dog who loves to lay on the couch next to you while you watch Netflix. She will go on short walks and go out in the yard to lay in the grass, but she likes to spend most of her time napping.
She is very friendly with people and very gentle. She doesn’t mind being picked up. She lived with children in Texas before coming to me and was very good with them.
Sophie is pretty low energy. She wants to be with you all the time so she will walk with you if you want to walk, but I think she’d prefer if her human sat on the couch all day so she could sleep next to them. The only time she gets very excited is when I come home from work, and she will jump on her hind legs and spin in excited circles. This only lasts for a few minutes, but it is guaranteed to make you feel very special! Then she is back to her low energy self.
Sophie lives with 3 other dogs. She will play a little bit with my Shih Tzu, but she gets easily overwhelmed and prefers if other dogs leave her alone. Mostly she will sit on the couch next to me and watch the other dogs play. My older two dogs ignore her and she is happy to follow them around the yard and sleep next to them. She has not had any interest in toys or bones.
Sophie is crated when I am at work (I work nights) and she is not a fan. She will bark on and off for a couple hours when I leave. I have tried a spray bark collar but she just barks right through it. She isn’t terribly loud, but still probably wouldn’t be the best apartment dog unless you plan to be home most of the time. She is not completely potty trained yet and will have accidents if she is not let out every few hours. She wouldn’t be able to go a full work day without pottying, so she’d need to be let out in the middle of the day or have access to pee pads. She will sometimes have pee accidents in her crate at night, but has not had any accidents during the day when let out frequently.
Sophie is such a sweet, low maintenance little love bug. All she wants is some humans she can follow around and a couch to nap on. She would absolutely love it if she could go to work with you; she promises that she is so tiny you won’t even know she is there.
Sophie is a Shih Tzu mix so she does not shed and will need haircuts every few months. She is an angel for the clippers so it’s easy to do yourself if you are up for it! Otherwise she will require periodic trips to the groomer.
