✅ Simone is affectionately known as "The Night Watch." While she’s more reserved during the day, Simone blossoms at night, confidently taking the lead and standing guard.
✅ She’s a smart, observant girl who looks out for her pack, ensuring they doesn’t stray too far—almost as if she’s playfully herding them back.
✅ Simone relies on Evita for social cues but shows her own independent spirit when the sun sets.
✅ She’s great on a leash—unless there’s a rabbit around! At that point, her hunting instincts kick in, and it turns into a game of chase, racing to see who can outrun the other.
✅ In foster with an 11 y/o kiddo and is gentle and affectionate with her.
✅ Needs reminders to respect cats’ space but likely could live in a home with an older, dog savvy cat. Apt to chase a younger kitten.
✅ Simone is particularly endearing—she’s very smart and has learned fancy footwork to allow her to move quietly to ambush her target.
Simone is a Great Pyrenees puppy who is one of the sweetest dogs you’ll meet. She even comes with a white heart shape on her head! Simone came up to Wisconsin from a kill shelter in Texas but was most likely found on the streets with her sister Evita. Simone is a typical Pyrenees puppy.
Energy Level:
Simone is currently a low to medium low energy level dog. She’s happy to go on a walk with you (We’ve gone up to 1.25 miles and she could probably go longer) or just hang out and lounge in the back yard.
Training:
Simone is a dream on a leash. She walks alongside you and doesn’t try to pull you over. When she sees a squirrel her ears perk up and she is curious but don’t chase. Her foster Mom in Texas said she is quite the hunter when it comes to the evening but I haven’t seen that up here in Wisconsin. Currently we are just doing basic training while Simone adjusts to life here in Wisconsin. Simone is a counter surfer and also needs to work on manners when it comes to human food. More to come as she develops
Crate Training:
Simone was not crate trained when she arrived in Wisconsin. Currently we are forming good feelings about the crate by eating her meals in there and only leaving her kenneled for short periods of time. When she is left alone she will bark for a bit before she settles down. She does not stress out and try to get out of the kennel. In the evenings Simone sleeps in her foster Mom's bedroom either on the bed or the floor.
Potty Training:
Simone is a puppy and was in the shelter so we are currently working on potty training. She is great at using the puppy training pads. Now we have to transition to her learning to signal to go out.
Grooming:
Simone is a Pyrenees and will require regular grooming. She loves being brushed and particular attention will be needed to make sure she doesn’t mat (Pyrenees trouble areas are behind the ears, arm pits and back of the legs). She also let me trim her nails quite easily for a puppy who hasn’t been handled much.
Dogs:
Simone has been great with every dog she has met out on the walks. She can become a little protective of food from other dogs but not humans. She will nip at a dog and let them know they are too close and to back off. She shared extremely well with her sister and she is currently learning to share with her foster brother. If it’s a mutual bowl or plate she’s fine. It’s just that her food bowl in her kennel is hers.
Cats:
Simone lives with 2 cats and is doing excellent with them. She will slowly wag her tail and go up and sniff them to say hi. She will trot behind them and play bow to them trying to get them to play. She has not shown any type of aggressiveness towards the cats.
Kids:
Simone used to live with an 11 year old kid and Texas and was reported to do great. The kids that she’s met on a walk have been great interactions also.
Car Rides:
Simone is great in the car. She’ll just sit in the back seat and laydown and sleep or look out the window. She does still hesitate to get in the car but that may just take some more positive experiences.
Simone will be available to go home after her spay surgery is completed towards the end of September.
