Robbie found his forever family on September 11, 2020! Congrats to this little guy :)

Hi, I’m Robbie! My foster mom says it’s hard to believe I was on the euthanize list before Fetch pulled me from the shelter I was in, because I’m such a friendly, well behaved pup.   I don’t really know what that big word means, but I’ve been in Wisconsin for a few weeks now and I really love it! Go Badgers!!

When I first got here, I hated being crated and would get pretty anxious and try to claw out of my crate, but I’ve been working on getting over it and now I’m fine in my crate.  My foster parents crate me for bedtime, when they leave the house, and sometimes when they are home too, for practice.  I have learned that being in my crate is ok and the people will be coming back soon, so no need to worry.   Sometimes, I even go into my crate by choice for a snooze.  That being said, I’m totally potty trained and don’t chew on things I shouldn’t, so I probably don’t need a crate long-term if that is what my forever family decides.  During my surgery recovery (more on that later), I’ve been sleeping out of the crate at night because it’s hard to be crated with a cone on, and I’m a good boy who sleeps in my dog bed all night without making a peep.  I even let my foster parents sleep in on weekends!

I love playing with the other dogs in my foster home! My foster mom thinks I might be in love with the resident dog, because sometimes we just lay on the floor facing each other and lick each other on the face.  There have been a few other foster dogs that have come and gone while I’ve been living here and I’ve gotten along with them all.  That being said, when I’m on a leash and see dogs, I get too excited and sometimes my hackles go up, which confuses the other dogs.  I maybe need to work on my doggy signals, because I really just want to play not fight! My foster mom has been working with me on this by using a prong collar when we walk, so she can tell me to calm down when I see dogs.  The prong collar also helps keep me from pulling on walks.  With a prong collar, my leash manners are pretty good.  I haven’t met any cats, but Fetch can cat test me if needed.

Speaking of walks, I love them!  I’m an active guy and my dream forever family would be pretty active too.  When I first came to Wisconsin, I was a little overweight from being cooped up in the shelter, but after a few weeks of getting to run and play, I’m now in great shape.  My foster parents have taken me hiking a few times and I enjoyed being out in nature.  I’ve also gone for runs with my foster dad and I make a great running buddy.

I’m perfectly potty trained – I’ve never had an accident in my foster home! But I was born with a birth defect to my penis, which is part of why people were passing me by in the shelter.  Thanks to Fetch, I’ve had surgery to correct the issue and I shouldn’t have any more problems.  I just look a little different “down there,” but I’m still the same happy guy otherwise.  I was a favorite with the vet staff who fixed me up, and even post-surgery, I haven’t had any accidents in the house.  I am doing great with recovery, but I can’t wait to get this cone off.   By the time you read this, I will be ready to rock and roll again!

I love meeting new people and currently live with my foster parents and a baby, who I like to lick.  I’ve been friendly with all the new people I’ve met.  I’d love to meet you too!
