Meet River, a sweet and spunky 8-year-old Chihuahua mix who weighs in at a perfect 12 pounds of pure charm. She may be petite, but she’s full of personality, loves her people deeply, and has a warm, gentle energy that makes her easy to fall for.
Personality & Daily Life
River is a cozy-at-heart girl who adores curling up under blankets next to her favorite humans. While she enjoys toys (especially stuffed or chew toys), she’s really happiest just hanging out with you. Her routine is simple and easy: she sleeps quietly in her crate all night, wakes up around 6 for a potty break, and then heads out for a short morning walk—because this little lady prefers to do her business off the property. After breakfast (served in a slow feeder because she’s quite food-motivated), she settles right into her crate again and snoozes peacefully while her people are at work. Evenings are all about potty time, cuddles, a bit of play, dinner at 5, more snuggle time, and one last short walk before bed.
Training & Skills
River is fully potty trained and very polite. She’ll sit nicely for treats or when you’re clipping on her harness. She’s also a great little adventurer—despite her size, she happily kept pace with a lab mix on a 3-mile hike! She loves walking and would thrive with someone who can give her at least one good daily stroll. One quirk to know: if you linger too long picking up her poop, she may try to slip out of her harness. A snug, well-fitting harness or martingale collar is recommended for this little Houdini.
Social Life
River is friendly and enjoys meeting new people. She hasn’t been formally tested with kids, but given her gentle nature, she’d likely do best with children 12 and up. She’d be happy as an only dog or paired with a calm, respectful canine buddy.
