QUICK FACTS: ✔️ Good with dogs ✔️ Good with kids! ✔️ Crate trained! ✔️ Potty trained! ✔️ Good in the car! ✔️ Snuggle Pup! ✔️ Loves to play!
Rex is two year old Border Collie (or possibly Australian Shepherd.) He is extremely gentle dog with a heart the size of Texas, where he is from! Rex is coming back to Fetch due to some concerns about leash walking after two months in an adoptive home.
Rex's favorite things in the world are being loved, getting pet, and snuggling up with a human. Rex is potty trained and does well in a crate. Rex needs some convincing to go into the crate, but once he is in, he is perfectly calm. In his previous home, Rex was not crated and was gated off in an area of the home and did well when left alone. He did not have any issues during these times.
Rex would make an excellent companion or adventure buddy! He is excellent in the car. His calm demeanor and love of all humans makes him a great dog for adventures in the community. Rex continues to work on his leash skills and this is an area that will need improvement. Rex has times where he walks really well on a leash. Other times, he will pull on the leash, jump into the air, or run in circles while leashed. A harness has helped with these behaviors. Rex is very interested in squirrels, birds, and other wildlife and needs encouragement to re-direct his attention back to his walk. While Rex is overall a very calm dog, it seems like he does have urges to run free and would benefit from a home with a fenced in yard or a family who is willing to explore taking him to fenced in dog parks.
Rex is extremely smart and is treat motivated. He would do well in training classes and this would be a huge benefit to him!
Rex has never met cats, but does well with other dogs. Because he is a little timid, slow intros with other dogs are beneficial; however, he quickly became friends with our resident dog and has good interactions with dogs in the community! Rex has also done well with children who have approached him slowly. Rex gets a little too excited with things that run away from him so a home with cats may not be the best fit.
Rex is a great dog who deserves to find his perfect forever home!
