Rainier
Shepherd Mix | DOB: 3/29/2025 | Female | 6 lbs
Rainier
Meet Rainier! Just like the stratovolcano for which she is named, Rainier is bursting with the playful energy and enthusiasm of a young, curious puppy!
Rainier and her mother and siblings were transported from Alabama when the puppies were just a few weeks old. Now, this playful, intelligent, and curious shepherd mix pup is ready to be your life-long companion in their forever home.
Here is what you need to know about Rainier:
Personality - Rainier is a typical puppy who likes to play hard and sleep hard! She is a confident pup who does well with new experiences. Rainier is clever, and enjoys learning new things. She sits for her meals and for a treat, and delights in playing "hide and seek” games around the house. Rainier comes running when her name is called. After a play session, Rainier is happy to snuggle for a nap in your lap, or next to you on the sofa.
Socialization - Rainier has been fostered with an active family with young kids. She has tagged along both on our family adventures and in our day-to-day lives. Rainier has met friends from the neighborhood, "hiked" and had a picnic at Devils Lake (Rainier was carried and enjoyed all the hikers who stopped and told her what she already knows - how cute she is!). Rainier has visited the pool, attended baseball games, and become the impromptu team mascot at an ultimate frisbee jamboree. No matter the situation, Rainier has handled it with the curiosity and confidence of an easygoing puppy.
Rainier is respectful and curious with cats. As a young pup, Rainier is interested in playing with our elderly cat, but is well mannered and backs off when told no.
Rainier is friendly with other dogs. In the neighborhood, she is happy to watch older dogs from our yard or while being held. She enjoyed romping with a slightly older puppy at a recent play date.
Food and potty - Rainier eats every meal with a fiery gusto like she might never eat again - even though she is eating 4 meals a day! She is a pup that is highly food motivated, which may benefit her in future obedience training. Rainier is doing well in potty training. Her potty signals are typically easy to spot and she can be whisked outside for a potty break.
Travel and crate - Rainier is amazing to travel with in the car! She settles in her crate and takes a nap. She has ridden around town while running errands and taken a longer (~ 1 hour) car trip to the Wisconsin Dells. Rainier also settles in her crate in the house and naps when our family is busy or needs to leave. At night Rainier sleeps in an ex-pen (4 ft high since she climbs out of shorter ones) and settles very easily. She has slept 7-8 hours many nights. Rainier likes to sleep cuddled with a stuffy or soft toy.
Rainier is still growing, but she is bursting with all the best things you can hope for in a canine companion; the ability to transition smoothly in everyday life, playfulness, and snuggling!
Rainier will be adopted out with an addendum to her contract to be spayed at an appropriate age.
