Meet Punchy! This sweet little puppy already has a story to tell and she's only nine weeks old:
When Punchy was just barely 1 week old, she was hospitalized for five days. With how young she was, the diagnosis was not definitive, but was likely something akin to severe pneumonia. Health-wise, Punchy made a full recovery. While her little body was busy fighting off her illness, she missed out on a few developmental milestones. On the surface, Punchy is a typical, happy-go-lucky little puppy! Soft, floofy, and eager to learn all about the great big world she's living in.
While in foster care, we've noticed some developmental delays: She is likely visually impaired. You might notice a slight head tilt at times and she may tip over when turning left but she is perfectly capable and happy to keep up with her littermate. She is the smallest of her siblings. Punchy has been evaluated by our veterinarian, and they are unable to make a definitive determination at this time if Punchy's condition is congenital, degenerative, or a developmental delay. Further work-up with specialists as Punchy ages may be necessary. Fetch recognizes that Punchy likely will require more in depth veterinary care than other pups her age. We will not be pursuing advanced diagnostics with her at this time; she will instead be adopted out with a special adoption fee of $200.
Punchy is a very sweet, very quiet, very chill, and extremely loyal and trusting pup. She is up for whatever you want to do or nothing at all. She's taken quickly to her crate, sleeping in it 6 hours through the night or for 1-hour stints during the day if we're away. This young lass has learned potty is for outside. She'd like to go out every hour or two during the day unless she's completely zonked - no need to wake her up to go. Punchy knows "sit" and she's eager to show you with any treat you got including blueberries, YUM. We think she'll LOVE to learn some new tricks; work that brain! We have started Punchy with off leash walks only because she stays so close, and we didn't want to further challenge her equilibrium but I'm sure she'll get used to a collar just like she's adjusted to everything else around her. This girl has charmed the world. We look forward to finding a forever home that will cherish her as much as we do.
Oh, and the story behind how our heroic little fighter got her name? Make sure you tell her, "Chew it, Punchy!" when you give her a treat.
Due to Punchy’s age and likelihood to be a larger breed, she has not yet been spayed. She will be adopted out with an addendum to the adoption agreement to be altered at an appropriate age.
