Updates

Pepper has lived with us for the past month and a half. She has a “foster brother” who is a 1-year-old Alaskan Husky. Pepper has really taken a shine to him, and loves to play the zoomies with him as well as tussle in the backyard. Given that she can keep up with an adolescent husky who is pretty big and fast (though is as equally gentle and patient as playmate mentor), she’d do great in a home with another dog or two. She also recently stayed at a boarding facility for a few days while her foster fam was away and the staff were super happy with how she played with the other Fetch puppies who were there!

Her Alaskan Husky foster brother, however, is not the only mentor in the family! Pepper has been an amazing social support for her slightly older buddy, especially when it comes to car rides. She just hops right in and settles. We have been able to help the husky over his (understandable, given his past) hurdles when it comes to hopping into the car. Pepper Pup to the rescue!! And so, if you have another dog and would like to experience a synergistic dynamic, we are confident that Pepper can really make bonds and work together as a team.

Pepper is one of those dogs where, if you go on an outing with her, you will end up meeting lots of new people and have wonderful conversations! One morning at the Madison Farmer’s Market, we simply just to share stories of Pepper and talk to people as they tried to guess what she could be a mix of. Some people even approached after those conversations, just to say they had been watching at a distance and were amazed at how calm she was!

Pepper’s foster mom is working towards a certification and thorough education / mentorship in dog & human training. Part of this education has led to games-based training which really harnesses the motivation & joy that humans & dogs can bring to learning. And so, Pepper’s adopter will have access to the gift subscription (already purchased & activated as of August 12th!) to Susan Garrett’s “Wag Nation” & “Home School the Dog”! This way, if you, the adopter chooses to, you may continue with the games that Pepper has been learning and playing, all to be a harmonious member of the family!
