Peewee was rescued after his owner unexpectedly passed away; he was clearly very loved by his previous owner and it shines through in his sweet and goofy personality. He is an absolute riot! It won't take long for you to realize that Peewee's favorite thing to do is sit up like a human. He will balance like this when he wants food, a toy, snuggles, attention, or just to be able to see out the window better. Sometimes he will even put his paw up like he is giving you a high five. Whatever the reason, it never fails to charm us and make us laugh!
Peewee is an early riser and is excited to start the day once he hears you stir. He will promptly wait at the door to get let out but usually takes care of his business quickly as he knows the morning is also breakfast time. He goes out again at lunchtime, after work, and once more before bedtime. This seems to be a sufficient amount of times and, if he needs to go out again at a certain time, he will run to the door to let us know. When completely alone, Peewee is crated during the day. He will go in willingly when asked and, besides a few barks or whines when I first leave the apartment, he is a pretty quiet and content guy in his crate. When someone is home, he is allowed to free roam with the resident dog. He has not gotten into any trouble or chewed on anything he isn't supposed to and usually just follows the resident dog around or finds a nice place to take a nap. He has done great having another dog around - he does not resource guard or exhibit any dominant traits. However, Peewee would also do well as an only dog because he LOVES and craves attention from his humans. He has not met any kids or cats under my supervision, but his previous southern foster reports that he did great with both.
Peewee is a pretty low energy pup. He does need to slim down to a more appropriate weight for his short stature so we have been getting him plenty of fresh air and walks. He also loves to play fetch with his toys. He is very food motivated, so we have been trying to be more particular about when he gets treats as a reward. Peewee does not seem to be afraid of much and has enjoyed meeting new people and seeing new things. He is a very content boy who is eager to please his humans. He will make a great addition to any family!
