Adopted April 14, 2021!

Onyx sleeps in a puppy pen next to our bed. She sleeps through the night and typically wakes between 6 and 7 AM. We quickly rush her outside to go potty. We feed her in her kennel so she feels secure that no one is going to steal her food. We usually go on a morning walk and she is good walker. Throughout the day she loves to play with her toys and chew her rawhides. She loves to play with our resident dog and they steal each other's toys and then play tug of war over them. Onyx loves to chase and retrieve a tennis ball and run zoomies when she's happy. She is very smart and knows the “sit” and “down” commands. She loves treats! She likes to be where we are and doesn't like to be left alone. Although Onyx seems to settle herself down in her kennel when we are gone. She is very affectionate and loves to snuggle and be loved. She has responded well to a warm and loving home.

Onyx cowers if approached too quickly or unexpectedly. But she loves to meet new people and has responded well to adults who approached her.  No exposure to children in our home.

She has a medium energy level. Onyx loves to run in the house and yard and is very good on a leash.

After a few days of progressive introduction, she and our resident dog have done really well. No direct interaction with dogs outside of the home other than to bark at them on the leash.

She has done fine with our 20-year-old cat and is very curious about her.

Onyx has some separation anxiety, but seems to settle herself in her kennel when we are gone.

If you are looking for a funny, active, smart, loving dog, Onyx would be a great fit. She is still adjusting to a new home after trip from Texas but is very trusting and sweet once she knows you.
