Moxie-according to Merriam-Webster- is a noun meaning energy, courage, know-how and tiny adorable dog.(some liberties may have been taken with the definition ;). Moxie, is a teeny tiny, weighing in at 4.8lbs. She might get a bit bigger as she is just shy of 6 months old. She is "energy" and loves to play with her toys. Fifteen minutes of playing tug and fetch will get this little girl well exercised. We try to get at least 2-3 play sessions in each day. If we don't wear her out with play, she gets the zoomies and races around the house to wear herself out. This little girl is also "courage". She plays with the big dogs, it is true all dogs are big compared to her, but she hasn't met a dog she hasn't warmed up to and tried to play with. She lets strangers hold her and gives them kisses and lots of tail wags. She can be a little less courageous on walks, stopping and going behind me to the far end of the leash if she sees something she is uncertain about. Letting her watch and process the "scary" thing helps and then she is usually willing to continue on. She bonded to me on her first day here, and was sure my husband was the enemy when he arrived home. He spent lots of time with her over a weekend and she has accepted him into her inner circle. As far as "know-how", she's got cuddling and playing down to a science. She is progressing on potty training; she's about 60% of the way there. She goes out on a leash to do her business about every 2-3 hours during the day. We don't let her free roam in the house since she is not completely house trained. We keep her in sight or in her crate or dog playpen to help her succeed at understanding outdoors is the only acceptable spot to relieve herself. She is content in her dog play pen or kennel if she can see us. If she knows we are in the house but we are out of her sight she will whine and bark, but eventually settles and takes a nap. She is quiet in her kennel when we leave the house and quiet when we return. She knows sit and her name. and is working on here, kennel up, leave it, wait, and walking well on a leash. Moxie is most definitely a cuddler; right next to us or on one of our laps are her two favorite places. She loves to curl up in bed with us until lights out and then she quietly goes in her kennel and sleeps all night. If you are a tiny dog lover this little girl might be just the right amount of energy, courage and know-how to fill your heart and home with love and cuddles.
