Mother

Pit Bull Mix | 3 Years Old | Spayed FemALe | 33 lbs

QUICK FACTS: ✔️ Good with other dogs! ✔️ Crate trained! ✔️ Good in the car!

✅ Left inside the shelter enclosure sometime during the night of 12/21/23; she was there wagging her tail and happy to see us when we rolled in on 12/23. She looked like she had recently had pups (or had had a bunch of pups before) and just seemed well-suited for the name Mother!
✅ Hard to describe because she is so distressed in the low enrichment shelter. She vocalizes a lot there and is clearly super bored and lonely. She isn’t barky or reactive with the dogs kenneled on either side of her but can get overstimulated on walks with lots of other dogs.
✅ Seems to be more easy going around male dogs than females but has done fine with both.
✅ Got a 72-hour break from the shelter (barely time to decompress) but seemed much lower energy and calm and quiet when not there.
✅ Loves treats and immediately picked up the trick of sitting when she hears a bag crinkling!
✅ Keeps the inside portion of her shelter immaculate and spent a long weekend in a foster home and had no accidents there.
✅ Pretty distressed in the shelter but she slept nicely in her crate all three nights of the long weekend without vocalizing or tearing up her bed.
✅ Wonderful on leash... no pulling at all, and she loves to walk!
✅ We have no assessment with Mother on kids. She would probably love them because she is such a fan of human attention.
✅ The long weekend foster experiment exposed her to resident cats; all good there, she seemingly had no interest.
✅ Loves all people and makes every stranger - male or female - her new best friend.
✅ Loves car rides and is an excellent loose rider, alternately gazing out the window and resting her chin on your leg.

As RuPaul would say, “Call her Mother”! This pint sized, pocket pittie sweetheart is ready for all the love you can give her. She came from a very rural TX shelter, where she was found surrendered around Christmas Eve. True to form, she was wagging her tail at the shelter workers who found her. Mother has such gentle, low key, and tolerant energy. She loves belly scratches, naps, pig ear snacks, and playing with her puppy foster brother. Mother genuinely feels safe in her crate, rides beautifully in the car, and makes everyone fall in love with her immediately.
