Updates

Missy is a happy, lovable, energetic, smart and gentle dog. She has an expressive face and one floppy ear. Her tail is constantly wagging happily. She loves walks, squeaky toys, playing with other dogs, watching cats, squirrels and chipmunks, getting back scratches, chewing on "bones", cuddling, and curling up to sleep on your lap. Missy is inquisitive about what her parent is doing and wants to watch or join activities.

Missy sleeps through the night in her crate. She waits patiently until she is released between 6-7am. Missy is walked in the yard, right away, to pee. She eats breakfast and then enjoys a vigorous 1-2 mile walk. We repeat the process of a walk after her supper.

During the day, Missy is curious about what retired foster parents do all day. She often settles quietly by your side. Or she LOVES watching wildlife out the window. Missy does bark at chipmunks, squirrels, noisy children, other barking dogs and people coming to the door.

Missy is friendly with other dogs, people and children. She acts like an excited puppy with enthusiastic energy. This means that Missy needs training. She follows a few commands and is walking on leash well. Missy doesn't go to the bathroom while in her crate, but does not show clues for her need to use the bathroom outside. We are working on this. She is let outside ever 3-4 hours to pee or poop.

We rescued Missy from a difficult home situation. She was allowed to run free in the neighborhood and was accustomed to freedom from a leash or fence. We have been diligent about keeping Missy contained and have not had this problem since living with us.

We cannot keep her because our elderly dog is jealous of the attention Missy needs, and our elderly cat hisses and hides from Missy. We want Missy to have a great forever home.
