Updates

Missie is a friendly, spunky pup who brings a lot of joy wherever she goes! Missie wakes up around 7AM and is taken outside right away to go potty. The next hour or two is play time with our resident puppy where she gets some of her wiggles out before breakfast. Breakfast is typically served between 8-9AM in some form of enrichment activity such as a puzzle, snuffle mat, or licki mat, and followed by a nap in her crate. After nap time Missie goes outside again for a quick potty break then it is back to play time! In between bouts of play Missie likes to take breaks with a chew toy or long lasting treats- she is a huge fan of Yak chews and bully sticks! Throughout the afternoon and into the evening Missie will take naps in her bed or her new favorite spot on the couch. Dinner is served around 6 PM in her crate or in a another form of enrichment. A little bit more play time but usually by 7:30PM Missie starts to wind down and cuddles on the couch with us while we watch TV. We take her for another short walk to go potty before bed and by 9PM Missie is snuggled up in her crate.

Missie is great with people! On walks she looks curious when strangers pass but does not bark or show other signs of being fearful or over excited. When introduced to people Missie is very friendly though she does have a tendency to jump to say hi. Using the cue "off" and rewarding her for polite greetings has been helping so far.

Missie has had no exposure to children.

Missie is a higher energy puppy and needs time for exercise every day. Using other forms of enrichment like puzzles and training also does a good job of wearing her out. On days when our resident puppy was at daycare or we needed to spend more time out of the house we've been able to take her for ~1 mile walks in the morning and afternoon and been able to crate her for a few hours at a time with no issues. Missie is working on leash manners and loose leash walking. At first she pulled quite a bit but we found that a front clip harness worked wonders with her.

Missie is good with other dogs both inside and outside of the home. At first she was awkward and didn't seem to know how to greet or play with other dogs, but she caught on quick and now loves to make doggy friends!

Missie has been kept separate from our three senior cats, but if she can see one through a door/gate she will play bark and try to get to them. She does not show any aggression towards the cats but she does want to chase or play. I would not recommend Missie live in a house with cats unless the cat is dog savvy and likes to play.

Missie is always crated when left alone and does well. She isn't much of a chewer but she has gotten into the trash so I would not leave her out unattended.

Missie is a complete sweetheart and such a happy girl! Watching her learn how to play with other dogs and show her goofy personality has brought a lot of joy into our home. Missie would probably be content as an only dog but I believe she would really thrive in a home with another playful pup.
