We adopted Millie from the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin in April of 2024. Millie is almost 14 months old and weighs about 38 pounds. Millie is a very sweet girl that just wants to be next to her people at all times. She is good with older children (11, 15 and 17) but has not been introduced to younger children. Millie joined our family which consisted of the 5 of us, a ten year old Australian Shepherd and multiple cats.
Though Millie gets along well with our Aussie most of the time, she does have periods throughout the day that she seems to go after him for no reason that we can detect. These episodes consist of hackles raised, teeth bared and intense barking. No contact has ever been received and the episodes end as fast as they started with her curling up next to him. Millie has done well with dogs she has met outside of the home. She does harass our cats to a point that they are choosing to spend most of their time in our basement. She is not aggressive towards them just in their face, which they do not appreciate. Millie is a very energetic and agile girl. She is able to jump/climb our six foot paneled fence, and because of this we have to keep her on a short cable while she is outside.
We have not been able to integrate Millie into our family as well as hoped. We feel that Millie will strive in a family that can devote more time to her than we are able to give. With proper training and consistency she would be the ideal companion for someone.
