Updates

Millie found her forever family April 22, 2021!

PUPDATE 3

Millie continues to do a great job with her crate and potty training. She hasn’t had an accident in the house all week!

She also continues to grow in confidence and while still demonstrates a more submissive personality, she is not seeming as timid when meeting dogs. She loves to play with other dogs and does a nice job of listening to the older dog’s redirects when he needs a break from her puppy antics.

Millie rarely barks. Aside from whining/yipping a bit when first put in her crate, she really doesn’t bark. This is true even when our neighbor’s dogs are barking.

This girl is sweet, smart and loves people...a great pup for any family!

PUPDATE 2

This sweet girl continues to blossom as she gains confidence. She has successfully met more dogs and has had good experiences each time. Millie is showing more confidence when meeting people and is pretty enthusiastic, now that she knows how great people are! She is doing lots better with leash walking and continues to be successful with potty training. Millie is even going into her crate on her own to relax and continues to do well with being crated both during the day and at night.

PUPDATE 1

Millie sleeps in her kennel. She wakes up around 6-6:30 am and goes straight out to potty. With frequent potty breaks right after rest time and eating, she is doing a good job of going potty outside and has had minimal pee accidents inside. We feed her and take her outside to potty again. After some morning playtime in the yard with the kids, she settles into her crate for a few hours. She then gets out for a potty break and play time. she enjoys playing with the kids in the yard. Once she has gotten some exercise, she comes in for some rest. We have allowed her to relax on a dog bed, not in the crate, while supervised. If we can't supervise, we crate Millie as she does chew on things she shouldn't. We practice the leash walking in the afternoon and round out the day with more yard time. She is often content to just lay in the sun and relax. She eats dinner around 5 pm and then goes out to potty soon after. Millie is often sleeping by 7:30ish. She is woken up let out to potty one last time before bed around 9:30-10 pm. She can last the whole night without needing a potty break.

Millie initially can appear a bit hesitant/shy upon meeting new people, but she quickly gains confidence (only takes a min or two) and warms up. She loves people and is especially interested in kids.  We have been working building her confidence with lots of introductions and treats from friendly people. She is a sweet and smart pup.

She loves kids. As a puppy, Millie does sometimes need reminders not to mouth while playing. She loves playing with the kids in the yard. Millie lives two kids ages 3 and 7 years old in her foster home.

Millie's leash walking is a work in progress. She is often either pulling hard to get somewhere or dragging behind/laying down and needing coaxing. This has improved while she has been with us but needs continued work. Millie seems like a medium energy level.

She is slightly submissive around the larger dogs she has been introduced to causing some submissive urination. She has done fine with the dogs she has been exposed to; both inside and in the backyard/on walks on leash. Millie is friendly and interested in other dogs.

Her only exposure was seeing cats through a storm door. She was very interested and would need a careful introduction to a cat. It looked like she wanted to chase it.

She goes in her crate when we leave and cries for around 5 minutes before settling down.

Millie is a very sweet girl. She seems very smart and is an affectionate and friendly dog.
