If you’re looking for an easy going, snuggle buddy who also loves to go on bike rides and runs – Mila is your girl! Having grown up in a loving household for most of her life, she knows how domestic dog life works and is move-in ready! Mila just kindly requests that there are no human kids to fight for attention with. She’s tried that life and it isn’t for her. She would do best in a calm home of adults who are active outdoors where she could be the baby, as that’s what she’s used to. She’ll probably accept having a doggy sibling, but they have to be mindful of her personal space and not try to play with her 24/7. She’s very calm and is used to sleeping most of the day. She’s very flexible about her schedule. I let the dogs out at 8:30 AM and leave for work shortly after. I return at 2 PM or 3 PM. Her previous home worked full time and she had no issues waiting 8 hours to go potty again. She loves to hop on the couch and bed to snuggle, otherwise she’ll follow you around the house just to see what you’re doing. She does struggle a little to get off furniture if there are no carpets. Mila likes sleeping under my bed, so every night, she crawls under there and every morning, she crawls out to follow me do my morning routine before I leave for work.
Please be aware that Mila is a double-coated dog and she sheds about twice her body weight. Luckily, her smooth coat doesn’t matte easily! Mila doesn’t like baths, but she’ll tolerate them while whining and howling. She doesn’t mind being brushed or having her nails trimmed.
While Mila is an excellent house dog, Mila’s original owner and I feel that an active home would be in her best interest. As a Husky mix, she has a lot of energy that I’m sure she would love to burn off. She loves going on walks and in her old home, she would run alongside their bikes in the summer time. Mila also loves wading in water and playing in the snow. If you can get Mila to come out of her shell, she’ll play tug-o-war with you, run with you outside, and she loves going to the dog park. She loves treat filled toys and chews. She gets along well with laidback dogs.
Mila is a very intelligent dog! Here are the list of things she knows:
House trained
Can free roam
Crate trained
Free feeds
Very treat motivated
Commands she knows:
Come, Sit, Stand, Down, Off, Stay, Wait, Spin, “Bang” (play dead), Shake
Leash trained
Mila needs work on her leash walking skills. She knows what harnesses and leashes are and how to go on walks, but she likes to go off on her own ahead and pulls. She would benefit from some training in that department. She also likes to jump on people when excited and give them surprise kisses. Typically, the command to used to deter that would be, “off”, however, she sometimes gets so excited she doesn’t listen. It is also best to feed her treats open handed, as she does take treats a tiny bit aggressively.
Other than these things, she’s a very easy to care for dog; super chill and absolutely loves attention from people. Her pictures also don’t do her justice. She’s got such a cute little wolfy face.
