Mikey is the happiest boy who showers everyone with so much love! In the past week that he has been in WI, this is what I have observed:
Energy level:
-Medium-high energy puppy who seems younger than 8 months (age is a guess).
-Loves toys, chews, tug, fetch; occupies himself well.
-Plays hard then naps hard. Needs 30-60 mins of exercise in the morning before being crated.
Animals:
-Plays well with all dogs (sometimes doesn’t notice their annoyed cues).
-Would enjoy having a playful/active sibling; could be fine by himself with more exercise.
-Good with the 1 cat he met; curious & friendly but did not chase or bark.
-Notices critters outside and occasionally lunges but not a very high prey drive.
-Would probably enjoy dog parks & doggy daycare.
People:
-Friendly with everyone and loves getting pets and giving kisses.
-Good with kids (very excited to meet though), even walks nicely with a stroller.
Working on:
-Counter surfing and occasionally stealing non-toys.
-Leash manners: barks at other dogs on leash in a frustrated attempt to meet.
-A few instances of guarding high-value food from my dog.
Crate & Potty Training:
-Barks for 5-20 minutes in crate when I leave but then settles in for day.
-Only able to comfortably hold his bladder for about 8 hours overnight and 5 hours crated during the work day. Frantically barks when he needs to go out.
-No accidents in crate; only 1 free roaming accident on first day.
-Taken out every 2 hours in evening to set up for success. Able to hold it during storms (which don’t bother him).
Mikey is so fun and will have you constantly laughing and entertained. He also loves to snuggle and get his big face squished. Mikey will be a wonderful companion and adventure-buddy for an active adopter or family who is willing to be patient with his puppy behaviors!
