Meet Maggie, an energetic and playful girl with the sweetest puppy eyes. She thrives on playtime, whether it’s running around with other dogs or meeting new people. She’s so friendly and the love is mutual when people see how cute she is on our walks around the neighborhood. She has not met any cats or children.
When Maggie first arrived, she was wary of people and traffic but her fun personality soon emerged after relaxing a few days. Now she hunts down new smells on our walks without a care, occasionally laying in the long grass when there’s a breeze going. Walking is easy as she’s learned to walk next to me on our regular routes, when we deviate from routine she’ll roam around more but doesn’t try to pull me around. Fast moving people (runners and bikers) and other dogs excite her and is something we’re working on staying calm with encouragement to continue on our walk! She also loves hikes, eager to explore and splash around on the trails and dog beaches around, with limitless energy to keep going. At home, Maggie enjoys chewing her bones and tearing apart plush toys which certainly shows her spirited personality but means she typically gets non plush toys now. Despite her playful nature, Maggie knows how to settle down and enjoys cozy cuddle sessions after a day of adventures.
She’s a quick learner, already mastering a couple commands like sit and paw, as well as basic potty training since arriving a few weeks ago. While feeling at home in my apartment and sticking to our routine to go outside, she has had accidents in unfamiliar homes. She’s fairly food motivated, which is what helped her conquer going up and down the stairs.
On busier days, we’ll go out for about a mile in the morning, one time right when I get home, and then a later evening walk. Between our regular walks and playing with her toys at home, she’s been flexible with having enough energy for longer outings but also chilling at home. On the way to other trails, she’s sniffing out of the car window as much as possible and she sits/stands nicely in the backseat while I’m driving. Maggie would love to find an owner to go out on adventures who is also dedicated to staying home and cuddling!
