Meet Linus! This small, on the go dude is ready to find his people. He is an energetic and cuddly pup, with so much personality.
Linus is a very typical, 4 month old puppy. He is only 9 lbs so he will stay on the small side, though he does have a pretty big bark. He does bark at things he hears outside and will bark a bit before he settles in his crate so he may not be best for a living space with shared walls.
He spends his days practicing crate training, playing in the yard with his foster siblings and emptying out the toy box. He loves meal times and hasn't minded his foster sister eating near him and sniffing around his bowl when she finishes first. He plays hard but loves to snuggle with the humans as the evening winds down.
Linus arrived in Wisconsin on February 14th and it was zero degrees. With the cold snap/negative temps, Linus didn't want to potty outside. We allowed him and his foster sister to use potty pads during that time as they couldn't handle the cold temps. He has done pretty well with the potty pads and we will start working on an outside potty routine with him now that it is warming up.
Linus is a pretty friendly guy and just takes a few seconds to approach new friends, especially if they have treats. He has not met any kids with us but he does jump up/mouth when he gets excited so he would need supervision with really young kids until he learns those boundaries.
He currently has three other pups in his foster home; two adult dogs and another puppy about his same age. He plays mostly with the other puppy. He really wants to be friends with the adult dogs but they are less interested. He can be a little bit annoying (licking in their faces) with them and needs some help remembering to give them some space when they would prefer he leave them alone. Overall he is pretty submissive with them and he does read the cues pretty well when they give him a correction. I would suggest continued supervised socialization with other dogs (daycare or playgroups) so he can get lots of practice being corrected by humans and other pups but he is very playful/loves other dogs and would do great with another pup in his forever home.
Linus does have a kitty in his foster home. He is interested in the kitty and tries to play/chase with the cat. He does sometimes bark at the cat through the baby gate. Based on my observations, I think he could live with a cat but would need supervised interaction and some correction from both felines and humans so he can learn those boundaries.
Linus gets most of his energy out playing with the other pups in his home. He loves wrestling and playing chase. He is a medium-high energy guy that likes long naps after play time. With the temps, we haven't had him on leash much so will likely need work in that area. He does well in the car (crated) and settles in fairly quickly for the ride.
Linus hasn't been left alone too often but when we do leave, he needs to be crated as he is still very much a puppy. He will chew on cords, shoes, scraps on the floor, etc so will need to be closely monitored. He has made great strides with crate training and has graduated to being crated outside of my immediate office space while I work. He does need a break around lunch time but settles back in with just a little fuss after a break for some potty/playtime. He does great in the crate overnight with no breaks for up to about six hours or so.
The Wisconsin vet prescribed a round of antibiotics to treat kennel cough.
We have loved having this sweet, spunky pup with us and know he will bring lots of love and puppy kisses with him to his forever home!
